Help me understand... Why Daylight Saving over Standard?

The big push is to remain on DST year round. Why?
Lighting is cheap nowadays. We aren't burning oil and candles anymore, and bulbs are energy efficient. It is really a small fraction (average less than 10% and falling) of our electricity use. AC is 40%+ of power usage in most homes. Would it not make more sense to stay on standard time? This would reduce AC use because more at-home hours would be after dark with cooler temps.
Traffic accidents in the morning would be reduced because most people would be commuting after sunrise during the Summer.
There is an argument for more evening daylight hours because there are less crimes committed with the Sun up, but crime is going to happen regardless.

They change it every 6 months to reset the earths gravitational pull. Back in the old days they never reset the earth and the tides just kept getting bigger and bigger til it caused a big flood like in the Bible

Why is DST all of a sudden a controversy? We’ve done it our whole lives and now you pansies can’t handle it? Suck it up and deal with it.

I don’t care as much now that I work from home and don’t have to commute, but it used to suck when you’d get home from work and it would already be dark limiting your outdoor activity.

Tell me you don't do any outdoor activities during the week without telling me you don't do any outdoor activities during the week.

I threw away all out clocks and we just live by the sun. DST means nothing to me.

The biggest thing against staying at perm DST is that kids at the bus stop, school crossings, etc, will basically be in pitch black until 8:30 am during the dead of winter.
Getting dark at 5 pm suck, but not as bad as 6 yr olds standing on an urban street corner in the dark.

Because we have social media and we let it control us. Just like people bashing Dasani water for a time. Who cares? Just go buy something else.

Personally, I need all the daylight I can get

A lot of people want the sun to stay out so they can go outside after work.
I am with you, I want the sun to be dwindling around 6:30-7 PM. If we ever make DST the standard we'll relocate to the eastern portion of a time zone somewhere in the south (fi I'm thinking about that correctly).
Standard time means the sun is overhead at noon, and the sunrise/sunset hours are less extreme on the shortest/longest days of the year.
I'm in bed by 8:30-9 PM. I'd like for the sun to do the same. I understand other people feel differently, and I respect that. I don't know what to do because a lot of people who want Standard time year round are introverted (hence, want everyone to settle down) and they aren't as loud about their preferences. Extroverts want the sun out so they can hang out, and are quite loud about their preference, making it seem like everyone is on the same page.

Most people would rather more daylight after work because they have jobs and kids.
I don't give a frick if it's dark in the morning. Childless fricks need to stop making decisions for us all.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills and the only person who doesn't care either way. We get the same amount of sunlight regardless of what the clock says
.

Because it sucks to come home in the dark at 5:30 in December. Why would anyone care if it's light in the morning when they are getting ready or on their way to work. ?

You sound like a fat lazy frick. Just stay inside and work on your diabetes.
