Getting dark at 5 pm suck, but not as bad as 6 yr olds standing on an urban street corner in the dark

They mostly have a dozen parents out their with them or are even sitting in a car with parents waiting for the bus. It's not like the old days. Even 10-12 year olds have parents outside with them.

I don't give a frick if it's dark in the morning. Childless fricks need to stop making decisions for us all.

I have a job and kids and don't care if it's ever daylight past about 7-7:30pm. I'd prefer it to get dark at least by that time

but it used to suck when you’d get home from work and it would already be dark limiting your outdoor activity.

How much outdoor activity are you doing in the freezing winter? Maybe in Louisiana or Florida, but you ain't doing outdoor activities in the winter in most of the continental U.S.

most people would prefer to have more daylight at the end of the day rather than before they get up

The big push is to remain on DST year round. Why?
First a question for you: Do you work? Do you work outside? I work but don't outside, and am guessing most people on the OT don't. We just want to see some sunlight after work.

For me personally, the couple of parks nearby I run or mountainbike in close at dark. From November to March I have to do these activities on the weekends. Sucks.

Also, I'm a DIY guy on a small farm. Daylight after work lets me get more done around here. Sure, you can use artificial light, but these old eyes prefer it naturally.

Many people like their “extra daylight” after work and think that it would still get dark at 5:30 year round without DST.

Why is standard time all of a sudden a controversy? We’ve done it our whole lives and now you pansies can’t handle it?

It varies some by location but in S LA it would not. It would be daylight until 7:40 during peak summer with standard time

If we ever make DST the standard we'll relocate to the eastern portion of a time zone somewhere in the south (fi I'm thinking about that correctly).
You will move because of DST?

Traffic accidents in the morning would be reduced because most people would be commuting after sunrise during the Summer.
No. The roads are full of morons, in daylight or darkness.

I've been suggesting this since the mid-90s: Split the difference by 30 mins and leave it!

I know that you and you know that, but most of the people who just say “F getting dark at 5:30” don’t.

Neighborhood busses come through in the dark on SDT. In rural areas earlier.

Yeah I wouldn't move over it

I don't care for eastern time or Pacific because everything starts too late or too early but I could get used to anything

A majority of the US population doesn’t mind if it’s dark in the morning and prefers daylight later in the evening.

A correlation may be found in the fact that a majority of the US population is overweight or obese.
