Wiki page for the building.

quote:

The building’s roof was involved in a helicopter-related crash around 1:50 PM on Monday, June 10th 2019. A fire resulted in this crash landing, with a single fatality of the lone helicopter occupant reported, and no injuries or fatalities of building occupants noted. The fire was relayed to have been contained as of 2:20 PM, and evacuations were said to have taken place for building occupants of this and surrounding buildings.

It is currently unknown why this helicopter crashed, or why the helicopter was in the area. The area in particular is under a no-fly-zone restriction due to the Trump Tower being only a few blocks away, and this restriction has been in place for several years since his unfortunate election.

Funny, none of the media reporting on this crash has mentioned that. I'm sure they'll get right on it any second though.

It shouldn't have been flying in that weather in the first place. Tragic situation for the victim(s) but I'd like to know how the hell a helicopter gets to fly in that weather within a no-fly zone over Manhattan.

Only about 7 blocks from Trump tower - must be Trump's fault.

I talked with ex VietNam helicopter pilot once,he said flying in big cities with skyscrapers extremely dangerous. He said wind currents were likely to hit you from random directions. Also said flying in Grand Canyon was extremely dangerous for same reason, and he would never do it.
