Yes. Thanks had to look it up, but P’cola was on the left side of the eye fortunately. However, it was unfortunately on the right side of the eye nine years later for Ivan. A true mess.

Are watching this one close as we leave late Friday night to drive to Orlando.

Seems like heading West would be best based on what is known thus far, no?

Tomorrow - pay attention day and planning day

Tuesday - early prep day - food, water, medicines, and fuel if you are going to ride it out.

Wednesday - protect property and/or evacuate day (before sunset).

I agree they were very close on landfall (Tyndall AFB / Mexico Beach vs 30A), but I thought they were slow to pickup on the potential for rapid intensification?

I was replying to a post that was suggesting being in the bull’s eye 4 days out is good because it often moves, not necessarily about the strength.

wind damage was minimal to nonexistent. (Opal made landfall between Pensacola and Navarre.)

Interesting, you’d think the east side would’ve been rough but good to know it wasn’t as bad as it was made out to be when I was told about it.

IIRC Michael was spun up in a similar way and they absolutely nailed that forecast from the get go.

Yeah Michael was wild. We were at Rosemary Beach the weekend before it hit and there was very little concern.

I'm gonna need to see the GRAF to know for sure where it's going.

It puts a cat4 into Cape San Blas late Thursday with another tropical storm into Destin on October 8th because why not?

In the last 3 years I’ve had 3 out of 5 vacation/trips altered or cancelled due to freak weather events… winter storm shutting airport down, derecho shutting airport down for a whole afternoon, and now hurricane.
I just cancelled my Navarre beach trip for this week and pushed it back two weeks to PCB on October 9. Given my luck it’s just natural that there will be back to back storms hitting.

Yes if I were evacuating and weren't heading to a week long non refundable vacation the likely won't be effected very much by this thing.
