There is plenty of videos/photographs that the media is showing. I even linked some for you.

If you’re expecting CNN anchors in rural Western NC you’re going to be waiting a while cause it’s kinda hard to get there right now.

Look I don't have time to debate this all day. I'm not saying there is 0 coverage but flat out, no ifs ands or buts, this is NOT getting the news coverage it needs to be getting.

If this was a major U.S. city, especially one of the East Coast or West Coast cities or a major city that is majority-minority, like Atlanta or Chicago, all regular programming would be preempted as it should be and the regularly scheduled information would be put on the website.

Conversations about Israel, Ukraine, Iran, the Election, they DON'T MATTER RIGHT NOW! All of that should have been preempted.

Think what you want, this disaster is not getting the coverage it deserves and needs to get getting. That is FACT! Thoughts and prayers for your family, please keep us updated on how they are doing.

This was WNC's Hurricane Katrina. When it's all said in done this will be one of the costliest disasters (both in terms of human casualties, economic damage, infrastructure damage and property damage) in U.S. history. This will be right up there with Katrina, Andrew and 9/11 in terms of the human and property devastation. Far more devastating than events the media has all but stopped their regular programming for in the past to cover, like school shootings and riots.

Screw articles. I want live on the ground coverage in real time to see what is happening. I want real time updates from the Federal Government and FEMA. I want to see the military being sent in for search and rescue and for operations centers to be set up for water and food for people. None of that is happening. You're the one pushing a narrative instead of worrying about your family. If my family was in the precarious situation you said yours was in, I wouldn't be on here that's for sure.

So CNN ought to adjust their programming, 24/7, to satisfy your morbid curiosity?

Get a fricking grip. You and several other posters have proclaimed that you don't watch CNN or any other mainstream media. Good for you, I don't either, but you don't hear me bitching about what they do or don't broadcast. Who cares?

Give it a fricking rest! Getting all worked up about what is or isn't broadcast on a station you don't watch can't be good for your blood pressure.

How do network providers prepare for this? Honest question. I know what I ah e to do as an individual to prepare but idk how they do that. If winds/rain/mudslides take your towers, how do you prepare for that?

Just using your post to make a point bc we’re not in disagreement. How many of you have ever lived in a truly rural mountain county? I did for several years post college and I don’t mean a place that had a city of 25k. I mean truly rural.

Half the county couldn’t get regular cable run to their homes. The challenges in cost and terrain were too great and when funds came in for things like EMA it still didn’t fix things because counties had to gps areas that cell companies, cable, and internet weren’t touching and we’re trying to do so with unskilled workers and areas that are inaccessible.

The challenges in rural mountain communities are enormous.

For people wanting thorough, real time coverage, follow North Carolina’s Weather Authority on Facebook. I’m pretty sure he’s just a college kid doing the work our MSM and authorities should be doing.

How anyone in Florida, have a boat and not have a plan to secure it when a storm is coming is beyond me. Especially since all of those were easily trailerable.

In this case, yes, all news outlets should be adjusting their programming and preempting all regular programming. Absolutely. And not to satisfy morbid curiosity, to get real time updates on the ground and from local, state and federal officials.

Dude, you’re comparing wildly different population numbers. Of course a large city getting hit would be a bigger news story

Post after post you lie about media coverage and try to make this a racial issue. You’re a POS

Just to add onto this discussion, there are people all over Facebook wondering if they can still take their trips planned to Asheville and surrounding areas in the next week or two.

Funny you say that. $42 billion was allocated to fixing this a few years ago and nothing has been done. Musk offered to do it for a fraction of the cost and he was told to take a hike.

Why is a single city worthy of more coverage than 2 states?

To whom did he make the offer — curious if it was local or federal who told him to take a hike. Bet they’re wishing they’d said yes about now.

So were the back pages of newspapers when issuing corrections or reporting news they didn’t want to promote.

The fact that you admit you have to search and find it proves it’s not getting the attention it should.
