He approved every FEMA declaration put in front of him. It’s not like he can go visit the area because it is currently underwater and unsafe to do so

Aerial views? He could make an effort.

Think of all our money that’s been sent to Ukraine that would’ve more than covered this disaster. If we’re going to spend money, let’s spend it on our own citizens in our own country instead of sending it overseas. America First!

Well, at least he isn't holding FEMA funding hostage in exchange for Ukraine funding......you know......like he did after the Maui fire.

Damn, the fossil fuel industry is now targeting electric vehicles with these hurricanes they’re making.

Look at WFLA8 or FOX 13 Tampa websites. Mayor Caster was talking about it this morning.

No idea but 95% of damage down here was surge. We only got a couple inches of rain and winds never reached Hurricane strength.

Not to be an arse, but EMA should not be relying on cell service in these type scenarios.
In a SHTF situation the only thing to rely on is shortwave/HAM radios and generator power. Those can be set up locally/statewide and not dependent on large nationwide companies who are focused on profit (not that there is something wrong with that), but local authorities should have local resources to rely on.
Hopefully we can learn from this
All the major cell service providers have mobile cell towers that they bring in after events like this to restore service until the towers are fixed. First responders have priorities on the mobile towers though. So if the network is full and a first responder, with the right phone of course, tries to make a call the temporary networks will automatically kick someone off to make room.

Infuriating
Not to the true believers. Hard to imagine there are Americans that would rather feed and house how's illegals than help Americans that vote differently than they. But here we are.

And funding a Ukrainian war.

My first time asking resulted in downvotes with no response so I will ask again
Anyone know if the national MSM is covering the devastation?

I don’t know. I don’t watch the news on tv. I learn about current events on podcasts and TD.

The massive slug of water moving down the French Broad River has now led to Flood Warnings for Greene County (where it leaves the mountains, going down to Douglas Lake.
Now TVA is warning Jefferson and Knox county residents who live near the French Broad for the arrival of that slug below Douglas Dam.

Back in the day when I worked at the NWS forecast office, we would always bring in a ham radio operator for the big events. Of course, it has been 13 years since I last worked at a forecast office (Jacksonville, FL) so I am unsure if they still bring in those kind of folks...

Video collection of infrastructure collapsing
Mostly East Tennessee, because there are no roads open in western North Carolina.

Ham has fallen off over the past decade or so, and it has been a detriment. I think it is still very useful and needs to be invested in and encouraged.
