Eat like your grandparents

My grandmother made homemade biscuits, bacon, and scrambled eggs every morning that God sent. They had a big garden and lunch and supper were generally vegetables and cornbread. Pork chops or chicken occasionally.

I assume they mean refined carbs when they say carbs are bad. I eat a fairly high carb diet as well but complex carbs.

I eat cleaner than most people I know.

Most of my day is 3 square meals and then every other day or 1 out of 3 days I'll have something "bad". Say a quesadilla from Taco Bell or ill bake some brownies/cookies.

On an average day:

Breakfast:
Protein Bowl (~800 Calories)
2 tsp olive oil
5 eggs
potato, peeled and diced
ground turkey
parm cheese
salsa

Lunch:
Green Leaf Salad (~200 calories)
-Bell Pepper
-Cucumber
-Tomato
-Sunflower Kernel
-Feta Cheese
-Italian Dressing

Snacks:
Yogurt and blueberries
Apple
Babybel cheeses
Walnuts/Dark choc chips
Carrots

Dinner:
This varies, but my most eaten dish is some sort of chicken/fish/red meat with 1 or 2 vegetables with rice or some other carb, sometimes sweet potatoes. For example, tonight we are having baked tilapia, sauteed onions/bell pepper/zucchini with white rice.

Then in the evenings sometimes I'll have tea with honey.

More than anything else I try to stay under my calorie allotment and hit my protein goals. if I have a protein goal of 165g protein and I hit it at 3 and I have 250 calories left, I have no qualms with grabbing something that's straight carbs but under 250 calories that tastes good.

It took a very long time to eat like this consistently and I still slip up.

Cook for yourself, stop eating like a filthy slob, and match your intake to your energy expenditure.

In others words, stop eating so goddamn much if the extent of your movement is from the recliner to the fridge/toilet.

I actually really like ordering the premade meals.

I use megafit meals. Their classic meal which is chicken, sweet potato, and asparagus is dang good.

They have a crap load of others that you can choose from

I've been looking into all these premade meals and I can never decide which one to go with and which is better than others. I've read a bit into Megafit

What made you choose that one and do you recommend it? I've always been happy about my body but I can definitely stand to lose 10-20 lbs. I just figured these premade meals would be the way to go for me since I hate cooking in general.

I'm not going to talk about the food since everyone else is doing it, but what really helped me is buying a bunch of those small/regular storage container things from ziploc...they're cheap and resuable

They will really help with portion control, as there's only so much you can fit in them

There are a whole bunch to look at but ultimately, i really liked their menu.

You can pick which ever ones you want, you can custom make them if you choose too, you can pick how many.

There are about 6-7 that i truly enjoyed and usually just get multiples of those

I don’t want to sound like a crazy hippy, but plastics are probably a fundamental food toxin. We can’t eliminate exposure, but we should probably try and limit it.

Baked chicken thighs, baw. It’s been a game changer for me. Super low calories, tasty, filling, good protein, and super easy and quick to make. It’s been a big key in helping me lose 30lbs so far in 2021, along with walking/running and exercise.

Little oil, season to your liking, bake at 425° for 25 minutes. Profit.

I will always miss my mothers fried chicken

She used buttermilk, and cooked it in a cast iron skillet.

If I die from cancer due to the plastics at 78, it's better than dying from heart disease at 58

That's the way I see it, anyways

ETA: they make glass ones too

I buy seasoned leg quarters for about $1.25 a piece. Throw that on the grill with some veggies and you have a good cheap, healthy meal.

I heard pizza was a vegetable. Not sure if this is correct though.

Eat a lot of straight up meat and vegetables. Don’t eat sweets or drink sodas.

I eat sandwiches on Dave’s killer bread every day for lunch. Oranges, apples and bananas. If I eat out, just keep it simple and mostly meat.

avoid fast food in case of emergency

almost NOTHING at a restaurant is "healthy"

no soft drinks

no chips

processed foods only in an emergency

Then that's not cheap, at all. Chicken thighs can be had for $2/lb or less.

I've bought legs for. 99/lb numerous times.
