The only affordable option is to work for a company that offers health insurance.
Actually the exact opposite.
If your employer doesn’t offer it, get it from marketplace for a fraction of the cost.

Well, the first line of defense against high premiums is determining your eligibility for a federal premium subsidy.
So.. your first line of defense against high health insurance premiums is welfare.

The federal premium subsidies were not designed for anyone on welfare and
if you qualify for welfare (medicaid) you are not eligible for a federal premium subsidy.

Yes, I considered that before going on Medicare. Alas, didn't know I was going to have a heart attack.

You are getting help from the government to pay for your health insurance premiums... or simply having the government pay them entirely. You are getting welfare.

I have Medicare Parts A, B & C, plus a Medicare Senior Advantage plan from Kaiser Perm. I pay $192 p/ month for all. I just had a mild heart attack 3 weeks ago and had an angioplasty with 2 stents installed in my aorta. Feelin' pretty good now. Looks like the whole thing will cost about $95K, and I will be responsible for $5,900, which is the maximum out-of-pocket for the year. Not bad....

Great system we have. When you’re young and healthy you pay out the arse. When you’re old and frail the government pays for you.
Brilliant.
Brilliant.

There are a handful that pay 100% of the premium for the entire family.
My company pays 100% health, dental and vision.

Folks, this thread is not comparing apples to apples.
Some people work for a company that offers health insurance through an "Employer Sponsored Group Health Plan" and the employer covers a percentage of the premiums.
A number of my business owner clients cover 90 to 100%
Others on this thread have purchased their own policy directly and must pay 100% of the premiums unless they qualify for a premium subsidy.
Before posting premiums we need some background info in order to do a proper comparison.
Another major issue that the health ins companies don't want you to understand is whether the coverage in question is a real legally binding health insurance policy contract or an HMO.
There is a huge difference.
