I pay $1300/month for family of 4 for premiums.

$6500 deductible.

BlueCross PPO.

I had shoulder surgery last year and between prescriptions, premiums, deductibles, etc, I paid out over 30k.

I literally just complained about this. Not sure how an average person of family affords it.

100% a scam.

It’s horseshite and definitely A scam but if nothing else tell them you can’t afford to pay it and see what they do. They generally will offer either knocking 30-40% off of it for a lump sum payment or will let you pay as little as $25 a month and you can at least kill them with Time value of money

Even if you are an OT baller they have no clue and won’t investigate your finances so just tell them inflation is killing you and you are broke

My wife was in the hospital pregnant for a month and when my daughter came she was in the NICU for 6 months. Wonder how much that bill was. I’m guessing in the millions somewhere.

No, it's not an essay test. No interrogation, simply trying to understand your perspective. I can't answer that for anyone but myself, and I prefer that the government incentivize self-sufficiency (if government must exist) instead of subsidizing pseudo-slavery.

You have employer based health insurance. That is the best and the cheapest you can do it. Unless you are poor and have Medicaid and get healthcare for free.

I believe over 50% of the newborns are now Medicaid babies/free births. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Agreed.

If your work is not your own product, then you are also a slave.

Is one slave better than the other slave?

close. in 2020 it was 42%, but i'm sure it's gone up a tick since then. this is a complete and total injustice.

at the very least you should lost your right to vote if you take government redistributed funds. at best, they should not be available at all.

It’s the absolute truth. It makes me fricking furious. The system is setup for, I’m sorry to say, the shittiest segment of society to continue having babies.

The medical industrial complex is too often fishing for extra while not admitting they are totally happy with what the insurance had already paid.

My wife recently had back surgery. We paid the copay when she checked in. Now 4 months later we get a bill for $95. The only annotation is "hospital seevices". The billed to insurance was $131, 195. Insurance paid $131,100.

Are they just fishing for $95?

Not all insurance/coverage is the same. Had both kids delivered at a large private Trauma center and both cost less than $500 each. HMO's make you jump through hoops, PPO is the better option for many.

Health insurance is a scam

You play the victim very well.

It is an easy fix... Drop your insurance, quit your job, and only earn enough for Medicaid.... Live the good life...

It's a scam strictly because no one can tell you the price of anything upfront. All hospitals and medical service establishments should have signs posted everywhere of the cash price for services.

I believe that was signed into law by trump but it clearly isn't being followed.

Insurance will continue to be a scam until that issue is taken care of.

This was probably meant as a joke but it's actually a documented phenomenon. Working class couples are realizing that it's financially smarter to cohabitate (fka common law marriage) while the female files for single mother welfare benefits and the man continues to work as single with dependent tax filer. It's basically piggy-backing off of the government's inesacpable obligation to provide a safety net for innocent children born to feral ghetto trash who have neither the desire or capability to care for the offspring they recklessly sired.
