That take care of child birthing and the first few months of infancy pretty well. Say what you want about everything else but my friends in Ireland had it super easy. 26 weeks paid and 16 unpaid. Still had same job when she went back to work still making really good money.
The quality of life and the importance of children just means more in some countries.
Like Medicaid (and the free diapers), all of this is subsidized by the American taxpayers which should be pretty apparent now that the world is wondering what the US is going to do about Russia when we should have little to do with it

Bad, apparently.
I’m sure it’s still plenty expensive.
And if you were to ever look at a medical bill, you would see it is a scam too.
Sadly, nothing is ever going to happen about this, doctors and hospital admin aren’t going to give up their profits
If you make an effort to keep yourself in good health and have a good credit score (ie pay your bills), and pay income taxes, it is absolutely a scam

How much are they taxed for the free health care

Less than what Americans pay monthly for insurance.

Thank you for the clarification, it all makes sense now.
What makes sense?

Are you sure about that?

This is what I'm told from a person making 200k a year old hat works for a medical device company

meanwhile, we have no assistance and i will be stuck paying a $6,000 deductible for labor and delivery, plus another couple grand in doctors appointments and who knows what else they decide we should subsidize.
You could have probably negotiated a cash payment to the hospital and delivering doc for less than $6 grand.

Do you have actual numbers instead of hearsay?

i really don't know. wife handles all of the health stuff. might have to go back over everything. but we've got the best health plan they offered.

If it’s only 32 weeks it’s automatically covered under Medicaid

Weird that you aren't blaming the hospital or your health insurance provider for how much they are charging you.
I'm sure your healthcare provider will find a few million dollars to handout to their board members as bonuses at the end of the year

I'm right there with you as far as insurance tbh. Single male in my late 20's working for a small business, best insurance offered for OLOL affiliates is $300/mo with a 3k deductible and I think $6500.
I don't see the problem with his post as far as his deductible, Out of pocket, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not like we can just get a better plan than our employers offer???

Sorry your insurance today sucks so bad. When my youngest child was born 16 years ago it cost me like 32.00 out of pocket. I had a really good group policy. But I know that not too long after that the whole paradigm towards pregnancy changed and pregnancy started to come at more of a premium...there is no good reason for it

What country. Plus we just have a gay man paid leave to take care of a child he did not birth.
So maybe America is that utopia you seek.

We have BCBS, and I think it was around $2500 after paying OB and hospital.
After the cost of IVF, 2500 was just delightful.

I’d be willing to bet it’s not as much as the monthly premium payments and yearly deductibles.
I’m paying around $15k yearly in premiums and deductibles before I get a dime in benefits.

Next time you go to pick up your prescription, ask the pharmacy how much it is off the insurance.
Eye opening experience.
