After my company pays 80% of my coverage, just mine, I owe $200 a month. It’s another $620 a month, $7,500 a year, for the kid. When I say it’s gone up $200 a month It’s really gone up more than that since company is covering 80% of mine. It’s gone up $200 that I’m responsible for.

Loan forgiveness and free everything for illegals has a cost. Thank you, liberal overlords.

No answers for you. My HO and car insurances are due next month. Thankfully my employer pays my health insurance but that’s ending end of year when I retire. This country is about getting too damn expensive to live here. You can try shopping around your HO and car insurance but they’re all about the same now. Don’t even get me started on property taxes…they should be forced to purchase your house for their insane “appraisal”.

What does a healthy 20 year old need insurance for?

So that if he comes down with a serious illness or accident, he is not bankrupt for the next 20 years or remainder of life. Am I missing something here?

I had relatives in Rockwall that paid $3k per person per month with 1500 deductible.

How pathetic is that?

Blue Cross group market offers $6900 individual out-of-pocket, Ochsner based network. That’s the least expensive option on the Blue Cross group market.

Yep. LCMC and Ochsner are about all that is left in NOLA area. Not good.

Your kid can possibly get some pretty decent health insurance through the portal, especially if they are not working for a paycheck.

I was off work, medically unable, for 3 years and after my hospitalization after moving to West Monroe to live with my elderly mother in 2019 I had to get insurance as I was getting sicker and could tell further hospital visits were coming.

I haven’t had to pay a bill for anything except a couple of prescriptions and my med pot since I went through the portal. Insurance covers it all for us poors including a pair of glasses and eye exam yearly, hearing aids, transportation to/from appointments and hospital discharge home. (Including Uber at times) Insurance even sends a Visa card and puts $25 or $50 per exam for diabetes and pregnancy and child care checkups type exams on the card to encourage staying on top of common problems. Hell, I got 2 weeks of frozen meals delivered my last hospital discharge.

I even deposited a literal check for $1 today along with another small unclaimed property check. The single dollar is a refund for a prescription co-pay insurance says was an error.

It’s better insurance than I had for my entire working career and paid for out of pocket, way better than most of the inexpensive policies. They keep calling from an call center out of state to try to arrange another assessment for home health care but now the system says there’s no availability in the area (used to have a nurse come by weekly to check vitals and stuff but with my medical background was a waste of time. My illness is kind of either off or on without any in between stage to prevent hospitalization).

I have had 3 surgeries, a half dozen endoscopes, and had dozens of CT’s along with 4 extensive MRI’s, and cumulatively literally a year hospitalized since getting the insurance. Maybe $40 out of pocket in 5 years.
