For those that remember, I was in Monroe last time. Tell me about Mandeville.

Will seem like paradise compared to Funroe.

there's a lake, a couple really nice neighborhoods, a handful of legit restaurants, and lots of prescription pills

People from Mandeville will undoubtedly remind you that they are from Mandeville, then tell you how great Mandeville is.

Tell us how you liked Monroe

Monroe was just a typical southern place.
The mall is decent there though. I liked the layout. Almost forgot I was in LA though in Monroe due to how much it resembled a typical Alabama town.

If you liked the food there youll hate the food in mandeville. I think monroe restaurants throw seasoning in the trash.

The Hamptons of the New Orleans metro.

Lol it was nothing fancy or disappointing. It was just what I’m used to.
Mandeville seems kind of uppity so I’m kind of excited for the food

Mandeville is a nice town with good spots to dine. Fontainbleau State Park is a nice to hike or bike. Old Mandeville area in and around Girod St. I think it is is a nice place in the evenings.

Founded in 1834 by Bernard Marigny (of New Orleans). He was the original guy to say "frick this city" and move to the Northshore.
Depends on what you like.
Old Mandeville still manages to have a smalltown vibe. The rest of it is a nice, albeit generic, suburb.
Populated mostly by Southshore NOLA metro ex-pats, so you can find good food and drink.
Everything is closed down by 10pm except for a couple of bars.
Ubers are difficult to come by. Not sure about cabs.
Restaurants on/near the lake are nice.
Pat's Rest-a-While has a pretty cool outdoor oyster bar (with fans and shade).
Barley Oak for a bar with lake view. There are other spots along the lake and a bunch of restaurants on Girod Street between Hwy 190 and the lakefront
Mandeville Seafood on Hwy 59 has great fried and boiled seafood.
Lots of grocery options. If you like creeping on MILFs in yoga pants, the Whole Foods on 190 is for you. Otherwise, you got Rouses, Winn Dixie, Fresh Market, and others.
Oh, and traffic can be a bitch on Highway 22 and on 190 as you near Covington.
If you stick to east Mandeville below 12, you have few traffic problems except for a stupid stop sign on 1088 at Soult and sometimes on Hwy 59 nearing I12.

Nice area, too much traffic. No real Louisiana culture all cookie cutter strip malls. You could be in New Orleans and would be dead in a couple of hours so you lucked out.
