Putting your dog down almost makes it all not worth it

Had to do it awhile back. It’s tough, but just be a man about it. It’s the best for your dog and all involved.

I had to do this last Monday. It truly sucks but I know in my heart is was the right thing to do. Both of his back legs went out and he couldn’t stand up anymore. I feel for you because that was the second time I have had to put down a family member and it doesn’t get any easier ??

Sorry you lost your pup. You likely did what he couldn’t do for himself....

Remember all of the great times. Hold him close one last time.

And then let him go. He deserves better.

Mine is 13 almost 14. She just wines and groans a lot. She still gets up and uses the bathroom but she lauds around most of the day. I feel like it's her last year. I don't know how I'll be able to make the decision either.

It’s the most humane and kind thing to do. We should all be so lucky to pass peacefully in the arms of the people we love the most.

You have already made your decision. Just do it for the dog and move on bro. The dog had a good life.

It’s not about you, it’s about not letting your loyal pal suffer just so you’ll still have him around.

Sorry to hear that. My parents put down our family dog of 15 years a week ago. An Australian Shepherd, amazing dog. It’s so damn hard, he had a good last day. We gave him some pepperonis he likes and a little ice cream. He just was physically hard to get up and walk, would be slipping on the floor and they didn’t want him to wake up in pain. Losing control of his bowels as well. He was very loved. So damn hard but have to remember that it’s for the best and he had a good life.

Tough but necessary decision. It’s what men do.

Have someone come to the home to do it. It’s best.

I hate animals but your poor buddy doesn’t have any enjoyment in life anymore. Let him peacefully go to sleep. He won’t hurt anymore and you’ll have the memories of a great friend. It’s the right thing to do.

My dog chased, and never caught a squirrel his whole life. In his final days I shot one that was invading my attic. We propped it up near his water and watched him snatch it up with the quickness of his youth. He walked proudly around with it for hours. I have a good photo of it.
