It’s uncomfortable, but speaking up civilly transforms the atmosphere after someone infringes on you without recognizing your presence or domain.

The transformation may take time, & it may get worse before it gets better, but speaking up is advocacy. Bullies are cowards: polite advocacy is powerful.

Even if it remains uncomfortable awhile — which it would anyway—I’m more comfortable once I’ve said something.

when I first started doing some initial research I see that our city has a "connect app" where you can enter stuff like that. i wouldn't even have to call someone. But as mentioned...I'll give it at least another 4 or 5 days at least to see what's up.

I'd start calling now. I think it takes a week or so to get someone out there and you have to call several times typically.

Guy won't get into any trouble, they'll just tell him to move it with a warning that they'll ticket him next time. No consequence for anyone.

At the end of the day is it really that big a deal?

which is smack dab

I can’t help you with the latest thing that irritates you.

But I’m often amused by people who type the words they say - words that don’t really add anything to a conversation but just reflect some kind of regional or cultural tradition.

Now I’m curious how common it is for people to try emphasizing a point beyond the original statement.

Thank you for the interesting specimens that have given me something different to ponder this morning.

Your dumpster is my smack dab. And it is black and white, plain as day.

here's my main concern. Based on the information I have available from past experiences, the odds of him actually moving the dumpster into the driveway are zero. As mentiond in OP he doesn't even park his truck in the driveway when there ins't a dumpster; I have no idea why he refuses to park in his driveway. So if I ask him, no matter how politely or innocently the conversation is, that's just going to plant something in his brain about me being a complainer or an a-hole or not liking him. And I just don't see the point in doing that.

eh if that's the case I won't even bother. By the time all that's done the dumpster will probably alreayd be gone (hopefully...)

A big deal as it relates to the overall picture of my life? No, of course it isn't.
But it is obviously inconsiderate as all hell to everyone around him, not to mention dangerous.

The truck placement is unacceptable based on your drawing, especially if his driveway is empty. Quit being a pussy and walk across the street and explain things to him since he is too stupid and inconsiderate to figure it out on his own.

Had a similar issue with an a-hole that had 3 wrecked cars in his yard. No inspection stickers and no plates. Called code enforcement. They gave them 30 days to remove or they would tow. They moved them.

Politely explain to him that your wife is not the most skilled at reversing and that she’s almost hit his truck where he is currently parking it. If he values his truck he may decide on his own that is’ better to park out of the line of fire.

Why not do what brings you peace? I know you’re looking for advice, but you know what you want to do, so do it. It’s obviously bothering you, so call and get it fixed. You’ll feel better. Worry about you first.

I’ve called before about a dude that had a full on shipping container and boat in his front yard for years. Major hoarder in a nice neighborhood don’t know why the HOA never said anything.

BE A MAN AND GO SPEAK WITH HIM ABOUT YOUR CONCERNS.

After that if he doesn’t do anything, report away…

Spray in his truck with your water hose when he passes by.

Its amazing how selfish and self-unaware humans are. I see it every day. Just complete disregard for anyone but themselves. No shame.
