worked at McDonald's when I was a freshman in high school. worked for one week.
hated every second of it but the tipping point was this:
manager came up to me one day and asked me to get cleaning supplies and to climb in the "toy" (what she called the playground thing) and clean up some shite that some kid had spewed at the very top while he was in there.
it was one of those nah i quit deals you see in the movies. I felt great afterwards. Parents were not so happy b/c the only reason i had gotten the job in the first place was so they would stop hounding me about it.

Both daughters did one summer. It was all the inspiration they needed to get serious about getting an education.

Yup. McDonald's off of Sherwood Boulevard back in 1981. Lasted all of four days. That was some serious work.

Yeah, I know. That thirty years (and counting) in the Army has clearly proven I can't hack it

I sold dope in high school. BK workers were some of my best customers.

I worked at Little Caesar's when I was 18. Here are some high/low lites of the job:
* It was 1997 so we did not have computers yet (although ALL competitors had them...we were too cheap). You did the order on carbon copy paper. We used to have slow days with just 2 of us. Sometimes, we would receive a delivery order and just not write it down. When I/he would go up to pick up the pizza, if they paid with a check, we went back and processed it...if not, we could keep the cash/tip and never record it. We generally did this about 1time per 5 orders. Yes, it was robbery, but the owner was a complete dick.
We always did this stupid and at the time, very chaeap, cheap deal where we did $2.99 Pepperoni pizzas (mediums). That was the only thing we sold that day, but it was a lot harder than regular prep because half of the shite on the menu -- no one bothered to order anyway. We made about 600 medium pepperoni pizzas and prepped lots more. Bums off of the street would find enough nicklels to come in. The limit was 5 per takeout and most orders were indeed 5.
I was the main delivery guy on weekends and I would get paid about 64 cents per mile which truly was dirt. I would often get calls from friends who would offer (and I acceppted) weed/pills for pizza.
The job, itself, sucked. But we had to do something fun.

Worked at a froyo shop for a couple years for HS/freshman year of college
Actually enjoyed it for the most part. Super easy, could always talk up the chicks, super flexible hours etc etc but eventually it just wasn't enough hours/money to make it worth it
Also it got real annoying whenever the management would get on for doing nothing when there was literally nothing to do
we had to pretend to wipe counters that were clean because they would watch the cameras all day and then call us if we stopped cleaning (again with noone in the store)

Clearly I was seventeen years old and looking for a job for a month prior to heading off to basic training. But bottom line, your ff experience definitely made you a tough guy.
