The house I grew up in was on Evangeline Street, in North Baton Rouge. Spent 13 years there. Passed by back in 2000 to show my ex where I grew up and the place was abandoned. Went inside and looked around. In the backyard, my Dad had built me a 10'x10' playhouse. I found the plaque my Mom made for me that reads "Elizabeth's House". I took it and still have it.

Nurpe.... I still live in the house I grew up in. It will never be sold (that's the papers drawn up says).

I will not own another home. Just fine right where I am. I don't owe anything other than utilities.

I passed my house I grew up in everyday for the last few years while bringing my kid to school. Never stopped and asked to see it tho.

My childhood home was a singlewide mobile home. It is still out there, but it was moved off to the side and is falling apart.

So, I'm good.

My grandmother took us to her childhood home in Galveston. The current owners were not friendly at all, and she was very disappointed.

My inlaws bought the house I grew up in. About 5 miles from where I now live. I'm amazed 2 adults and 3 boys managed in such (relatively) tight quarters. Std ranch style single story approx 2200 s.f.

The house where I grew up as a kid turned into an office (it's not in the U.S.). Went there several years ago and there was a security guy at the front. I asked him if I could step inside and explained that I lived there back in the 70's and asked if I could go inside to see what it looked like.
He said, "No, sorry".

The house I lived in as a small child is still owned by the folks who bought it from my parents 40 years ago when we moved from TX to LA. Ten years ago, my BIL moved right around the corner from that house. Always wanted to stop in when we visit him and ask to look around.

There's a house on the lot I grew up in, but it's not the same house. About a year after Katrina flooded N.O. I took a ride to the old neighborhood to check it out. It was hard hit by the flood and the house I grew up in was in the process of being gutted to begin renovation.

I passed back there a few months later and the house was gone and when I asked one of the few people in the area what happened they said it collapsed when they were removing some walls to alter the floor plan some, so they tore it down.

Eventually, in its place they put up a shotgun camelback that added 3 more rooms to the original footprint.

First house I remember was destroyed by a hurricane and is now completely overgrown. Place I spent my teens with my mom was wiped out by a hurricane along with my grandparent’s place across the road. I still own that empty property and maintain it.

ETA I wish the place I first remember wasn’t completely overgrown because I’d love to go out there with a metal detector. I’m sure there’s some Hotwheels laying around that property.

Just drive by and Google Street view. I like to see how big the live oak trees I planted are doing.

We did a couple of years ago. It’s a small town so the family that bought it knew us. She showed us around, it was little weird. Used to have big windows in the back that were taken out because of termites. Also lost lots of trees from hurricanes, so yard was way different.

I've driven by my childhood home recently. The new owners let it deteriorate. It has vines growing on the side and visible rot. The "yard" is completely overgrown with old engines and shite everywhere.

Such a shame. My parents built that house. It was a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Now it looks like every other house in rural LA.

Was doing a drive by with my kids. Showing them the old hood. The guy that bought it from my mom post-Katrina came out and chatted me up. Introduced his family. Talked about the house, how my dad and PawPaw built it together. Didn’t go inside tho. Wanted to. Mostly cause of who built it.

One day I was scrolling through facebook timeline and what a pleasant shocker -- a girl I had gone to high school with posted brand new pictures of the interior of my grandfather's old house. It was special to me as we visited very frequently growing up and my family spent all our Christmases there. Apparently after my grandfather had passed, it was sold and ended up with this girl's boyfriend's mother, who had renovated it, and then at that point wanted to sell it, and she had reposted the real estate listing with pictures. I saved all the pictures of all the rooms and although it looks much different now it brings back all the memories of how things once were.

The house I grew up in was a house my grandfather built with his own hands after the war in the 40s in Brusly. He used Cypress wood throughout the house. We moved in in the 80s when he built another new house on the same property.

Anyway, a few years ago the current homeowners added on so during construction they saved a few huge pieces cypress wood and gave us a call and asked if he wanted it. Me and my dad picked it up and made a table out of it. That wood is damn old and it still looks perfect
