We used to wear out the Krispy Kreme donuts at the corner of Hollywood and Plank. 9-year old me would ride my bike there sometimes. That feels like 3 lifetimes ago and on a different planet.

Redemptorist or Istrouma grad? I saw one of the Pizzolato daughters at my grandmother's funeral, at St. Gerard. What an awful place NBR has become and it was terrible when we moved in 1997.

Neither. We moved to South BR when I was 10ish.

There was only one daughter of Tony Sr. They had like 4 sons. The daughter was born MUCH later than the sons, like 25 years later. She was my age. She had nieces and nephews that were older than her

I remember it in the 80s. It certainly wasn't the war zone it is now. My buddy's dad used to own Kelly's Food Mart on Plank and we'd hang out there after baseball practice.

2 of my old houses are in NOLA East, so no thanks. My brother did a tour of one of our old houses, I have passed by it to show my wife where I grew up. But, that is the extent of it.

The other side of this discussion, about a year after we were married, my wife & I bought a house from an elderly woman that lived in it since it was built. She raised 5 kids int he house. I ran into one of the kids at Home Depot (he recognized me from the closing) and he talked about coming by the see the house one day. I told him we would show him around, but it's been completely gutted, kitchen, living room, and den are now an open floor plan and the kitchen was expanded. He said "never mind, it'll probably piss me off"

This sentence reeks of "1980's Baton Rouge"

The house I grew up in burned down 20 years ago. For several years, the remnants of it remained and I would go visit when I went to the local cemetery where my parents and brother are buried and drive by and get out and walk around.

Then one year, the ground had been cleared, and it's still a vacant lot in what is now a worse neighborhood than I grew up in.

Plank Road was going to town for us. Metro Bowl, Howard Bros right off Plank and Airline, Piccadilly etc

I don't make it out there very much anymore. Maybe a trip to Tony's every few years. Just about all of my family out in Central are dead or no longer living there.

I've been to my first house (from birth to 2 or 3 years old) as my friend's cousin lives there now. Kinda strange tbh. I have only driven by other places. I don't think I would knock on the door to ask for a visit.

I took a trip home last week and was able to see a bunch of the important houses growing up. I only knocked on one door to tell them why I was going to take a couple of pictures. I was able to give her a small bio on the history of the house and neighborhood which was appreciated.

The neighborhood had significantly upgraded as the farm fields filled in with even better homes.

No because the neighborhood was taken over by section 8 and now it’s pretty much a ghetto.

We went and visited my wife's childhood home in Winchestertonfieldville, Iowa last year. It was beautiful and nostalgic. It had the same blue shutters, red door, and tree tire swing that she told me about. So many memories.

I was tempted to buy the house I grew up in, but my sister reminded me that two people had died there, and it was probably haunted at this point.

Same. It was for sale & I went to take a look. Seems so tiny even though we moved when I was 18.

It was a great neighborhood growing up. No one had fences and we ran and played all over the neighborhood. Great childhood memories. Still is a beautifully treed area with huge oaks.

The neighborhood isn't all that great anymore due to huge demographics changes. Only area that looks OK is around a Catholic school and church. Whole area looks a little run down. My old house is a group home for what looks to be the mentally disabled.

Sad.
