The worst I’ve ever felt was when I had the flu as a junior at UK. I really thought I was going to die. Thank goodness I was young and healthy. After 10 long days I was able to go back to class. I’ve gotten the flu shot every year since and never got the flu again.

First time I had pneumonia I thought I was gonna suffocate to death. 103 temp and couldn’t lie flat.

I also had what turned out to be Crohns, I’d work all day and had complete exhaustion and when I went to sleep I was surprised I woke up. In remission now.

Covid infection got up to 103

The first time I had Covid was weird. My temperature got up to 103, but I never had that death feeling. I didn’t feel good, had no energy at all, but I had the flu about 10 years ago or so that kicked my arse 50 times worse than Covid.

I also had mono when I was a little kid. That was terrible.

Had the flu back in 2000. 102 fever, so congested I had too breath through my mouth, and every time I coughed i thought my chest was going to bust open and an alien pop out. I can remember thinking this might be it.

Not been sick like that again just head colds a few times. Even with covid I didn't get that sick and never lost taste or smell. Knocking on all the wood in the house.

Got some sort of food poisoning/intestinal infection in Costa Rica.

I got flu around ‘95,thought I was going to die for about a week.Got to where I was kinda wishing I would.
Took me 2 months to get back to feeling normal.

Hong Kong flu back in ‘68 was bad but I recovered much faster,I was only 17.

My little one brought home a nasty stomach bug from daycare about a month ago that got me and I’ve never had one that bad. After three hours of combo vomiting and diarrhea I was seeing stars and almost blacked out on the toilet. In that moment I thought my wife would find me like Elvis.

My closest experience involved a life flight.

I had puked blood while in the ER. They were not sure if I had thrown a splenic clot (I have about a dozen the size of my little finger) or if I had a GI bleed.

I had presented to ER with my usual uncontrollable puking which is usually either pancreatitis or gastritis so while pancreatitis can be fatal on its own a quick enzyme test can determine the severity/risk yielding time for treatment most of the time.

Got walking pneumonia in my early twenties. Went downhill over the course of one day. Went to work in the morning with my chest feeling like I slept on a pillow wrong. My breathing got progressively more painful and went to hospital by late afternoon By sundown, I was in bed feeling like the end was near. It hurt to walk. It hurt to move any part of my body. I just laid there and hoped it was bacterial and not viral so the antibiotics would work.

Pre Covid I got the flu. I was in Fairhope on the way back to Pensacola. I went from thinking I had a cold to spiky fever in about 15 minutes. I had to pull off the highway a couple of times thinking I was going down for the count. I was shaking so bad it was almost a convulsion.

Look up Vasovagal Syncope. Had a bad stomach bug or food poisoning, something like that. Terrible stomach pains and ya know, all that goes with it. Had been fighting it for a day or so and stomach cramps woke me up about 1am on a Friday night.

I go to the bathroom and was on the toilet, it was horrible as I know most people have experienced. But the stomach cramps just kept getting worse and worse, I broke out in a cold sweat and got very lightheaded. Everything calmed down after a couple minutes and I figured I was good to go.

I remember “finishing my business” and thinking to myself that I’m gonna wash my hands and go back to bed. I don’t even remember standing up, next thing I know I’m waking up face down on the floor looking at blood splattered all over the bathroom cabinet and my face in a puddle of blood. No idea how long I’d been there or how I got there, shorts still around my ankles.

For a minute or so I 100% thought to myself that would be it

When I die it’s probably going to be from a rattlesnake bite far away from a hospital. West Texas & Arizona rattlesnakes are on the schedule this week!

I was diagnosed with scarlet fever in my early twenties. It’s the only time I’ve been so sick that I thought I was going to die. My fever got super high, like 104 and I had a red rash all over my body, including eyelids and inside my ears. But the worst part was that my throat was on fire. It felt like I was swallowing glass anytime I would swallow. It was so bad that I kept a cup by my bed to spit out my saliva bc it hurt so bad to swallow. It was pretty horrible. And I get kidney stones but the scarlet fever was worse.

I came down with Covid when it was barely a “thing”. My Mom was dying from cancer and I was spending most of my time with her in the hospital. The day we brought her home for hospice I developed a horrid cough. It was bad. I coughed so hard and constant it was as taxing as a hard workout. I was gasping for breath while coughing like a lunger. . I’m in shape, not fat, but that cough was debilitating. I can easily see how old and fat people died from Covid.
