at the time i thought i did. friend fell onto a beer bottle cutting every nerve, tendon and artery in his wrist. Blood was pumping out of him like crazy. i took my shirt off and wrapped it around his wrist. Fire department, was a couple blocks away, came a minute later. I was 14 and didn't know people lived when wrist was slit.

I did the heimlich on someone chocking before. I dunno if they would've died but I certainly helped them out
Same here. Was a church 12-4 bowling outing. Girl at the scoring table starting choking. Hands to throat - classic sign. Walked up behind her - two tries, and she was good as new.
No one saw it, no one knew. But she remembers.

On two occasions, at two different jobs, I was the only person in the vicinity of someone who was having a seizure while flat on their back. In both cases, I propped them up on their side and then called 911.
Can’t say for certain that they would have died, but both had lots of fluid/foam coming out of their mouth that they may have choked on.

I was 10ish and a friend who was 6ish reached out to catch a frog at our camp. The frog was a cottonmouth buried into the mud/leaves and I snatched him back. I have never let him forget it, although it would have probably been a non event.

Yes many as a paramedic and firefighter. Means absolutely nothing to me anymore, you get numb after awhile.

Just jogged a memory of community service at the special olympics pool. I was shadowing a guy with downs and he was bobbing in and out of the water. He went down one time and after about 10 seconds hadn't come up so I went to check on him and he was having a seizure. Got him above water and brought him to the side of the pool.

A dude next to me nearly stepped in front of a bus doing 25-30 MPH in the UK. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have lived if I hadn't stopped him from stepping off the curb. The bus didn't slow a bit.
If I wasn't in the habit of looking both ways more attentively because of a lot of international work travel, I may have followed his momentum and gotten plastered too.

How long till LsuGayjun7 comes here to talk about the trillions of lives he’s saved as a volunteer fireman?

If I have, I wouldn’t go blabbering about it.
I’m told by a friend who should know* that in Chinese culture, if you save someone’s life, you are then responsible for everything they do afterwards.
That includes bad things that they do.
*Lived and worked in a high profile position in China for multiple years.

Nephew choking on a piece of food. He was a toddler. Purple and limp when I got to him. Turned him facing down in my hand and gave him three or four thumps on his back with the heel of my hand and out popped the chunk of food. Giant breath then screaming his cute little head off.

Saved a lady from drowning once. I was kayaking and she had flipped her canoe. Foot was caught under a rock at a pretty sketchy part of the river and she was bobbing her head up and down. another guy and I got her foot free and had to float her down the river and got her to the bank. I needed a beer after

Had a very similar experience when my son was about 2 or 3. He didn’t turn purple thankfully. One of the scariest moments of my life.
