have you ever ridden a mechanical bull

I watched urban cowboy on tv this afternoon.
Took me back to when I used to go to the club and ride one. Good times.

One of the wives in our friend group is quite the exhibitionist. We went to Bourbon Cowboy one night and she was wearing a low cut top (as per usual). Her and the bull operator put on quite the show for the patrons. I was standing along the rail where the girls were waiting in line for their turn. There was a young little hottie who was next up and seeing what was unfolding says to me “I’m not following that shite” and walks off.

We practiced on a barrel suspended in air by ropes between two trees.
Never a mechanical bull. I'm not that ghey.

Fun fact about that place. On weekends and big events,they arrange for a local stripper or two to come in during the day and seductively ride the bull to bring in guys. And it works perfectly.

I did once for a bachelor party one night. Everyone was drunk having a good time, etc. I don’t remember much about it other than I didn’t stay on long.
I woke up the next morning unable to move. Seems the bull I rode was made out of steel and had very little padding on it. It felt like someone had pounded my groin with a sledgehammer.
I managed to roll over and call my brother. He answered the phone with a groan. I asked him if he could walk and he said no. He was sure a mule had kicked him in the groin. Neither of us could walk for a day.
Never again.

My best friend growing up was a bull rider. His dad put one of those bucking barrels in an area with lots of tree roots “ for motivation “. I had a few bumps and bruises from it but my buddy got a lifetime supply of arthritis from his decade of bull riding.

Had a roommate from Marksville in the early 80's. Rode one in Bunkie when I was down visiting him.

Few drinks in I’m like frick I’ll try. I got on and the dude made the bull buck and spin for me and I dropped in 5 seconds. Girl after me with big boobs gets on and she’s twirling around and bouncing up and down for a solid 45 seconds. It was my first and only time. I now understand why he did that, what he had to do...

Yeah .... bunch of us were at the Airborne Reunion in Houston in 1982 or so. Stayed at this hotel called the Astro Village right near the Astro Dome.
One of the local guys takes us to Gilley's in Galveston and we all got liquored up and attempted to ride the bull but the operator abused us. He took it easy on the gals though.
I met three of the guys featured in Band of Brothers that week and it really didn't resonate at the time .... including Dick Winters.
It had been about the same amount of time between then and when they served in WWII and between then and now .... so I can relate now to how it must have seemed like yesterday to them at the time.
Wish I had talked to them more and taken notes. We tried to get them to go to Gilley's with us but they said no thanks.
My body gets it these days, especially with this bad weather,

Had a bull barrel tied to peach trees when I was growing up.
Was about 5 ft off the ground. Hurt like hell when you fell off.

I worked in a dancehall that had one. When they installed it, we had a little private party and took turns trying it. Found out it was easy at first, until the operator got bored and threw us off. But the hottest bartender was somehow a championship mechanical bull rider.
