I don't drink during the week because I can't afford for my head to be foggy at work all day or the stomach aches, head aches, etc. When Friday rolls around though there's an itch thats gotta be scratched.

Used to go on some pretty ridiculous benders back in my twenties where I'd be ready to roll, now I just get tired and fall asleep.

Lost a lot of desire to drink recently when my BP elevated to dangerous levels.

My wife informed me I had lost all desire to drink a couple of months ago.

I had been averaging about a fifth a day for a year or more.... 3 days for a handle, basically. Probably drank nearly that much for most of the last 10 years, but not as consistently as 2020.

I can tell you, when you drink like that, you’re not aware of hangovers. I was at work for 6:00 am, five days a week the whole time.

I’ve been T-total since the beginning of November with 2 exceptions, and not a drop since 12/19. Frankly hasn’t been that hard. No AA meetings. Lost about 15 pounds.

I’m going to do it a year, and see where I am.

Yes. A couple of years ago I was the same, 3-5 drinks a night. Then just kinda woke up and stopped buying alcohol for home. Quit drinking for like 3 or 4 months.

Eventually started drinking socially again, but I still don't buy alcohol to keep at home. I was given a bottle of whiskey that I decided to open on Christmas, had one glass at the end of the night and haven't had any since then.

Mine has waned as my body has told me over the years it does not like it. It went even less after I gave my father the comfort cocktail for him to pass on. Alcohol bore a lot of the responsibility for his complications. This is why I do not get why people have so much pride for how much they drink.

once I started getting headaches while I was drinking is when I knew drinking was not fun anymore.

Also hate how I can't measure my hangovers the next day. Sometimes 3-5 drinks gives me a shitty hangover and sometimes I feel completely normal the next day. I did not like playing Russian Roulette with the possibility of a hangover

its called a hangover. but even the worst ones only last a day and a half or so.

You're either 25 or don't know how to party. I was out of commission for 3 days after the national championship game last year Still went to work, but it was no fun at all.

I only drink on Fridays and Saturdays these days (I'm 33). Occasionally I'll drink one or two on a Sunday.

Usually, I drink 8-10 per week.

I drink more now.

Not like I’m ever getting drunk. Just mean I pretty much have a glass of wine every night now. Sometimes it’s two glasses.

Over the last 2 months I've gone from 3-5 drinks a night to 1 to 2 per week (socially) with no effort. Woke up feeling like hell a few mornings in a row and decided to stop. This has been the longest stretch in about 7 years. I'd struggled with quitting in the past but now suddenly have absolutely no desire or craving. Hopefully I can keep this up, I've lost 10 lbs and feel great. Sleeping a lot better as well.

I haven't had a drink since NYE and it is definitely nice to sleep better and wake up refreshed. I still crave the taste and smell of glorious hops in a DIPA, but the cravings get less and less strong with every passing day. I know I'm not going to totally quit drinking, but I needed a reset from my 3-5 big beers a day, every day.

This.

How old is the OP?

47 year old hangovers are really 2 day events for me. Day one being a total loss with depression or anxiety about the wasted day. Day 2 I have a lunch that I actually finally enjoy.

There is NO going to work hungover anymore. It’s an automatic sick day wasted.

This is a big one for me as well.

I have a lot of fond memories of me and my wife going downtown and bar hopping, so if I smell a good bourbon it's a positive association.

3mg of melatonin helps. They come in higher doses but start there. It can give you some fricked up dreams on high doses.

Mid 30s. I'd rather be hungover at work than on my weekends but damn...the headaches were horrible.

I gave it up as a New Year’s resolution. After going 6 months, I decided to see how long I could go. Just made 22 years this past New Year. I was 38 when I quit. Best decision of my life. Alcohol has never done anyone any favor.

I've quit cold turkey before for around 2 years and only drank NA stuff if I wanted to get the taste of a beer. I did it just for the hell of it and when I was done with that I started having a few beers or cocktails again.

Last year for Lent was the first time in several years that I didn't give up all alcohol for the duration from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday.

Now I generally drink a couple cocktails or beers a night and that is not enough to even give me a buzz.

Good was a big part of it for me. Slowing the rate of absorption and getting a powered in me at some point helped

Haven’t had a drink since November and didn’t drink at all in October either. I really only drink if I’m at a bar though, so it’s been effortless to abstain when they’re mostly closed
