Almost. We were playing Parkview in the first round of the basketball playoffs. Up 2 I went to line with like 15 seconds left. Missed both. Thankfully we got a stop and my buddy drained both.
Rebounded in the second round and sunk 4 in a row to send us to the quarterfinals though

The bad: senior in high school playing the defending state champions, ASH. Held them scoreless through 6. We were up 1-0. In the top of the 7th a guy got a hit (only gave up 4 up to that point). Next batter was a pinch hitter I hadn’t faced yet. He promptly took my hanging curveball deep and we lost 2-1. Rode home with the catcher and was devastated, but he told me to hold my head up high, we aren’t beating anybody scoring 1 run. Good dude.
The good: playing short in little league I made an unassisted triple play. Bases were loaded. I made a diving line drive catch and as I popped up I tagged the runner going from 2nd to 3rd, then I saw the runner on 3rd was almost to home, so I casually jogged toward my 3rd base dugout and right after I stepped on 3rd base I tossed the ball to the mound.
Also won MVP of one of Skip Bertman’s camps back in the day. That was cool as shite.

Playing fullback in HS, got a holding call on a toss sweep TD that would have been the game winner, 50 plus yard run from RB. Fortunately we still won but felt like shite for a few minutes. Some CBs are too damn quick to get a head on block

Umm...sounds like a ground rule double to me?
Not if the player makes an attempt to dislodge it.

In high school, playing a top ten team in the state in soccer. Somehow up 1-0, ball played over the top, about 35 yards from the goal. Keeper comes allllll the way out, just me and him. Any touch would get the ball around him and leave an empty net. Whiff the touch, keeper knocks it out. We lose 3-2.

Stepdad decided to try me on the mound for the first time during a game.
My pitches had flame trails. Batters’ eyes widened. Girls in the crowd gripped the chain link fence in marvel. Metallica jammed in the background.
Well, the thing was that the umpire and everyone else saw 4 straight balls and stepdad comes out to pull me. I greeted him at the mound by throwing my glove to the ground hoping to hit China.
Still cringe when I think about it. His face was the maddest I’ve seen. Ever. If I could go back, I’d kick my own arse.

This is hilarious! I was a skinny kid who wouldn’t have made it on the football field. Wasn’t fast enough for cross country, so soccer it was. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Which reminds me...
I used to drop a few slices of wrapped American cheese down the neck-hole of my jersey and pull them out to eat while in the game.

Little league we had an ump not show up so for some reason the single ump called the game standing behind the pitchers mound. Never seen it before or since.
I was playing short stop and the ump wasn’t paying attention. I threw the ball back to the pitcher and the ump was in the way, hit him smack in the back of the head. Dude fell backwards like a cartoon knock out, straight as a board. I’ll never forget.
Today they’d call it a concussion for sure. He Looked fake to me but who knows. He manned up and finished the game after a couple minutes.

Sophomore year, JV football game. Tied at 20 with 1:30 left. Coach calls the slant n go. The play is in shotgun with a pump fake then go route along the seam. I take the snap, pump fake, and my guy breaks wide open. Guaranteed TD as long as he catches the ball. Just as I cock and get ready to release, the DE breaks through the line and blindsides me. I fumble and he picks it up and goes the other way for the score.
Ended up losing 27-20.

I last played sports in high school and I'm 31 so no, I don't think about any of that.

You are so full of shite. Anyone who ever cared about anything has crazy dreams occasionally about shite that happened back in the day. Reliving it good or bad, what could have been. I feel bad for people that don’t, to me that means they never cared.

I just laughed my arse off reading that one.
It didn’t have any major implications on the outcome of the game, but I got my friend and QB absolutely murdered on a play. I had moved from fullback to guard my junior year of HS because we had graduated our entire OL and we didn’t have a ton of talent there. I was undersized at about 230, but I was honestly pretty damn good at it. The defensive tackle I was blocking that night had been working a spin move to my outside for an entire half and I had bottled him up without much of a problem. When they spelled me for a few plays every few drives it was the same move he pulled against my backup. Mid-way through the 3rd we had a play-action pass called and his first step is to my outside. I step out to meet him, totally giving up the inside and all of a sudden he steps hard to inside, rips, and I don’t even get a fricking hand on him. All I can do is yell “shite!” And watch as he plants his face mask right in Thomas’ numbers and plants him right into the dirt. Thankfully he was okay, but he was pretty pissed off at me. Per Lineman etiquette, the next chance I had I promptly cut blocked him and punched him in the balls in the pile. I got razzed pretty hard in film study on Sunday.
