Girl I graduated with was shot to death by her baby daddy in a murder-suicide at age 20 while their child was in the other room.
Didn't "know" her, never spoke a word to her in 4 years of HS, but she was somebody who everybody recognized and knew of.

An older cousin, but I hadn't seen him in a long time and rarely even then so wasn't as big of a deal except the effect on my aunt, who is a nice lady.

They used to always play this one clip on the news of Natalee performing with the Mountain Brook color guard in a game against Hoover at The Met. I was in 8th grade when she was a senior, so there's a 95% chance I was at that game

Guy down the street from my parents beat his parents to death. It made the news here cause it's a nice neighborhood. I dont think he's even been tried yet.

When I was 10-11 years old, a girl I went to school with was murdered in a botched robbery at her house.

Guy I worked with in California stopped to help a couple on the road. They attacked him and in the struggle the woman hit him in the head with a spike heeled shoe. Robbed him and stole his car. When he was found, he lived long enough to tell the story but died in the hospital.
