I have. It’s really strange at first, but honestly after 5-10 minutes you get used to it.
Still would far prefer to do the interview in person though

This is extremely normal. How old are you?

I have had plenty of Skype call interviews (entourage to my first big boy job).
Basically went
Phone -> Skype -> In Person

Have you ever interviewed via webcam for a job?

Is this par for the course in the technology age?
The company I work for is mostly remote with people all over the country working for this company. Virtually all of our meetings are held on Zoom via webcam.

Yes, pretty standard for the first round of contact with candidates.
In theory, it allows you to have conversations with more candidate than before, when financial constraints meant that you might only be able to bring in three candidates based solely off of their cover letters and resumes. Now, you can talk to five or six candidates before deciding who to bring in for an interview. So many people look good on paper but are complete zeroes once you talk to them.
On the other hand, it opens the door to the influence of prejudice and allows the employer to go fishing for issues and characteristics that would illegal to ask or require in writing (but the same could be argued about the face-to-face interviews, too, so I guess it's a wash at the end of the day).

Currently at my job I assess pre-recorded video interviews.
Candidates have to answer same 4-5 behavioral questions. Supposed to make it more comparable across candidates. It’s nice to not waste my time traveling to speak with some of these no-talent arse clowns.
