Yes unfortunately,
Luckily I had friends and family for support. After seeking help I uncovered a lot from my passed that I tried to bury down and be strong through as a young boy. It all bubbled up at once one dark night. Seek support and help and take the time to work on yourself and nothing else. I had to personally rebuild and realize that my happiness was a choice. Days can still be hard but nothing close to what I once went through. God bless you!

I don’t know what to say to you, man. I’m guessing you’ve been monstrously betrayed more than I have, but I wish you the best.

You’re a good man, Owlie. You reached out to me when I was in the state I was talking about earlier in this thread. Just know people care about you.

To anyone thinking about it...look, I’ve been there.

Single dad, wife left, lost a career, lost a brother...all in 6 months. You think the darkness didn’t creep in? It had been riding me like a jockey for a while. Nights I just wanted to take a nosedive from a tower and at least leave some money to those I left behind. Because the that’s all I thought I was.

My kids are what saved me and chase away the darkness still.

Even on the darkest days when all seems lost, and the shadows cloud my mind and whisper lies, “I love you daddy, please don’t leave me.” Echoes again and again.

Because the darkness that feeds into depression is a lie. There are those who will feel
Their soul ripped away at your absence whether you think it or not.

If you’ve ever listened to a parent’s wail upon losing a child, you might understand. If you’ve seen a grown man bawl upon his brother’s tombstone, you might get it. No matter who you are, your parting brings sorrow.

The dark days come, sure as sunset, and endless nights will follow.

But no Matter how dark it gets...dawn will break the darkness. Whatever heartache and heartbreak and hollowness you feel will fade, and you’ll find laughter creeping in eventually.

It isn’t ever over until it’s over, and you have to fight against the dark and twisties that will cloud your thinking.

Life is long. And when love seems lost you’ll find it. When it all seems meaningless you’ll find meaning.

You just can’t give in. The songs are all written about those who hold on against the odds, who survive and fight another day.

So to all who might read this and know the looming doom of that great gobbling darkness...

Soldier on. It’s been worse and it will be better, you can bet on it.

In the military we’re taught to hold position till help arrives. Brother keep calling for help until someone tells you to hold your position, keep fighting I’m on my way

Finding meaning among the mundane is the most important thing you can do. Life really isn't exciting for most of us, and when it is, it's not the good kind. Finding purpose and meaning to every minute existence is the key to contentment.

I would never do it, because of the ultimate emotional harm it would have on my family. But the past 18 months have definitely been the hardest time of my life- work and personal. I definitely have thought about it. But, more like in a I want to disappear way.

When I was guzzling vodka for 10 years straight, I thought all sorts of negative things and questioned my value on this planet.

There are so many things to be grateful for.

Dont be too humble to get down on your knees every morning and say a quick prayer for you and also for somebody else.

Journaling also helps many people when they write down what they are grateful for. All too often, the one thing people forget to write down is the fact that they are alive.

What’s been going so badly

My wife left me after 20 years. It took me a few months to find out why I was getting treated like crap (cheating). When I found out about it, she was begging and crying for me to forgive her and said that she would work on us. After about 2 months, she just gave up and told me she don't want to be with me anymore. Has treated me like dirt this past month. Is stone cold to all my pain. Keeps going out with "friends" constantly while I'm watching our daughter. We went years not being able to have kids and then we adopted a baby 7 years ago and now I'm going to lose my daughter at least half the time. I'm worried about my house, finances, my future. I could understand if we were slowly falling apart but I loved her more now than I ever did. She got treated like a queen. So it sucks

I did. I came very close.

My life did a 180 since those months, but I remember them daily. No matter how good things are.

I could live anywhere, vacation anywhere, do anything and should he the happiest mother fricker on the planet. We have money. I'm retired. No bills. No responsibility.

But still I look back and wonder how close I was to ending it.

I came back from a very rough deployment to a foreclosed house, bills, and saw no light at the end of the tunnel.

Just plug away every single day. Don't quit.

I have suicidal thoughts my entire life. But thoughts and actions are two different things. At 65, I am still here. Too chicken.

I could never take my own life so if I wanted to die I would have to get creative. Like drawing a gun on a police officer, using the N word in a ghetto basketball game or calling the wife a bitch.
