When I was deployed to Seattle my ensign would take us to happy hour, and before each night was over we’d go to quarters for cuties. That place ( do t know the actual name) was filthy.

When I graduated high school a friend and I were bored and went to one for shits and giggles. It was the most awkward thing I've ever experienced. It was a dingy and gross theater that had about 8 people in it that may or may not have been rubbing one out to a classic 70's flick. Would not do again.

Not arguing with you. You are right. There were incidents in Coates Hall Basement and Middleton 2nd floor Bathrooms going back to the 80s.
The reputation comes from married dudes doing and getting dicksucks in those bathrooms b/c those areas had fewer people around and they were easily accessible.

I thought there was a glory hole incident in Coates or was that just a joke?

I don't know if it would be considered an "adult theater", but in the early 70s the Varsity featured "soft porn", such as Russ Meyer type movies (a lot of boobies, but no pussy or peckers). When we had long breaks between classes in law school, many of us would take in this entertainment.

A good friend of mine had a HS girlfriend whose dad got caught at Forrest Park giving strangers BJs. He was married, a successful business owner with 2 kids. It was pretty embarrassing for her considering he was all over the news. At least it was pre internet and social media I guess but everybody knew

Your intensity and scope of knowledge on this subject is remarkable.

Connie Chung did a whole feature on the rest area homo subculture.
My stepdad taped it, and would replay it on special occassions.

How long did adult theaters hang around? Based on things I have read, etc it seems like they were somewhat mainstream at one point... During the 70s. Wasn't the movie Deep Throat popular? I want to say Richard Nixon saw it while he was president and other "famous" people.
Was porn more accepted then?

My favorite story about XXX theaters.
Linda Lovelace's parents heard about Deep Throat starring their estranged daughter. The dad goes and sees it, confirms to her mom, "Yeah it was her, but they used some sorta camera trick for it."
She made a lot of money for the mob.

Well, the Connie Chung thing was just the introduction to a whole presentation he did.
He'd bought all this phone recording equipment from Radio Shack, and he'd try to get recordings of closet homosexuals agreeing to meet him at the rest area. Then he'd try to get their wives on the phone and play the recording for them.
I'm only aware of one time it actually played out as planned from start to finish, but that was some really good stuff. He had the original call and several follow-ups on tape. He didn't need much encouragement to get it out for company.

Hahaha. That's frickin good shite. To this day there are gay dudes on Grindr, just like straight women on Tinder, who bait married men then tell their wives or extort them for money.

I went to an NC-17 movie (I think the first one ever) at that theater that used to (assume no longer there) be behind the Murphy's/Chelsea's/Co-op/Winn-Dixie (wasn't it Winn-Dixie? Delchamp's?) center, as a teenager, and felt just as dirty as if it had been a PeeWee Herman-type place.
