For class, I mean Poor/Middle/Upper.

What did you do (or didn't do) to get yourself there? Any certain specific sacrifices you made?

Pick a major/career that pays well and that you enjoy and give it all you’ve got. Be responsible with your money and invest. Don’t get involved with/marry someone who is a shopaholic/wastes money/needs the top of the line everything.

I went from a Louisiana 9 to a Louisiana 10 by making ten dollars more a year.

Wouldn't have even paid for an apartment at the time where I was but I was in high society now.

I was poor as shite growing up. In high school dated a girl who came from wealthy family and saw the other side. Decided I preferred that side better, not that it was perfect, but better. I’d say same rules apply for my life.

I was born poor, we didn't have much, my dad was a truck driver, and my mom worked at a fast food restaurant.

But they taught me to work hard and no complain and good would come from it. They were mostly true on that and it has helped me all along.

It does appear people that complain and do nothing get a lot of rewards/attention today, that makes me sad.

Moved from lower middle/middle to much better. Probably mid to lower Upper.

Keys-

Married a good woman who had similar dreams to succeed. Didn't screw it up.

Made mostly good decisions with financing. Limited the stupid.

Stayed in a large company and worked to better my skills and education. All paid off.

First on either side of the family to graduate college. That helped a lot.

Went lower to upper class. I credit my mother. She just asked that I go to college because it would make her proud. Once there, I got lucky with choices and ended up in a good career.

Immigrant poor to middle. Middle is good enough for me. Enough to get by, have good people around, health(important), help less fortunate at times, and enjoy simple things.

I've seen this movie. It starts with cigarettes in junior high and ends with weed before noon.

I grew up lower class even though my parents tried to make us feel middle class. I'm on the upper end of middle class now. I just saw all the poor decisions my parents made and said I didnt want to make those. My wife and I both have good careers and we invest a lot into different retirement accounts.
