Yep. Hard wired two different Viofo systems myself into two of our vehicles. My truck has three cameras.
I wanted to post some clips of idiots I've filmed but not sure how to.
Owns a camera.
Can't figure out how to post pics.

I'm happy with the Viofo. I would recommend hard wiring and setting up parking mode. Caught a hit and run in a parking lot over the summer and saved myself having to pay a deductible.

David's Car Stereo on Florida Blvd - highly recommend for this service. It's an old mom & pops store so you actually get to interact with the same people if you ever have any questions or issues with equipment.

I know this thread is a couple of weeks old, but I wanted to bump it to ask a question. I bought a dash cam on Amazon and didn't realize at the time that for the parking mode to work, it needs additional power. I have bought 2 adapters for my truck that amazon reviews say work, but both are not working.
I think I want to just return the camera and get one that has everything included, including any adapters or power to include the parking mode recording for motion detection.
Anyone have any recommendations?

We have one. We caught a hit and run on our car one day. There was no damage, but the lady lied and ran off when we tried to talk to her. My wife was PISSED.

I have one in every vehicle. Front and rear camera.

I would avoid driver facing and turn the sound off. They can be invaluable in an accident especially when the other driver is claiming it is your fault. They should be standard in all vehicles especially with how litigious Louisiana is. Transcend is a good brand and what I have in my truck. There is a commercial insurance carrier in La that recommends this brand as well. Garmin makes good ones too.

Yes, I have a Viofo. Has front and rear cameras. You can add a camera facing you, but I don't see the point in that.
Had a guy drive into me at a gas station in BR. He handed over his insurance and contact info because a BR cop was at the next pump and strongly suggested he do it. Told me on the side he wanted to just pay me and keep his insurance out of it. I went and got a quote for the repairs plus car rental which was about $5K. Meanwhile I contacted his insurance company who tried to contact him numerous times with no answer. He tried to ghost me also. This went on for a couple of weeks. Finally, I furnished his insurance the video (took a bit to figure out because of file size) after all of the other info submitted including eyewitnesses. The insurance company called me the next day and told me where to get my free rental car and pick my repair shop.
These will more than pay for themselves. Highly recommend.

Compact, great clarity, supported by a large company --- but pricey.
Its temping to buy the cheapers on amazon but despite them saying 1080p or 4K, the resolution just isn't there from what I've found.
If you can't make out a license plate number or someone's face from 50ft, then its starts to get not worth it.

Yes on all vehicles. Installed myself.
Rexing who does sell off Amazon. Very satisfied. 4-5 years now. Zero issues. Very reasonably priced.

Interesting thread.
I’d like to get one installed on my kids’ cars. People drive like they are nuts, I guess they probably are.

I recently installed one. I think I paid $50-60 for it on Amazon plus I bought a 256 mb memory card to replace the small one.
The camera records front, rear and what goes on in the car. It was not as hard to install as I thought and it was easy enough to stuff the wiring up in the overhead upholstery.
My wife and I had a couple of close calls with idiots flagrantly running red lights and figured it was time to get it done. I bought one for my 16 year old granddaughter as well, advising her that her mom would be able to review what all was going on in her car.

This is mine:

The "brains" are in an external box locked under the seat and I have an extra battery for parking mode.
I went with the external brain and storage because a few dash cameras overheated in the summer heat. It also gives the front camera a smaller profile so it hides nicely behind the rear view mirror.
It connects to my vehicle's hotspot and auto-uploads any "events" to their app for viewing later.

Believe it or not, I didn't hit her. That noise was all of our groceries flying around thr back of the car.
After watching the video, I was sure I hit her but I didn't.

It used to be called David’s C.B and Car Stereo. That’s how long it’s been around. It’s in an old Western Sizzlin’ Restaurant and is (or was) owned by a fellow named David Saltz. That was where people went to get C.B. radios and 8-track stereos back in the day.

Can they connect into the rear view mirror instead of having wires strung up?
I used the upholstery tools that came with it to run the wire under the roof upholstery, then pried the post panel back a bit and tucked it behind, finally ran the rest under the dash to a USB outlet.
Took about 10 minutes total
