No doubt
The guys I know all went through the boot camp and immersive course and all had high paying jobs a few months from completing. But is coding actually enjoyable? I personally would go nuts.

i'm in networking (a different kind of programming i guess...) and i have a job making a healthy salary and doesn't require any degree. my boss has a HS diploma and makes north of $300k a year.
but i wouldn't have this job if i didn't have my last 2 jobs that required the degree. i have about a masters degree in technical certifications at this point.

With communists, expect communism.

Does being an opinion writer/reporter pay anything worth a damn?
I doubt it. There's a reason why they let these people go. There's a heavily saturated market for their positions and it's not difficult to find "writers" who produce outrage material. You and I could easily do what these people. It's pretty easy to find things to bitch about when you're trying to be outraged.

You can taunt journalists with “learn to code” all you want but you can’t run from the fact that if you switched jobs for 6 months, the journalists would be better coders than you would be at journalism.

My idea of fun now is calling people gross who suggest laid off journalists learn how to code.

"Learn to code" is such great advice for laid-off journalists. It's great that there is exactly one skill the economy is willing to reward, and history shows that if we teach everyone that one skill it will never become obsolete suddenly.

They don’t live in reality.

Ok so normally, I pick up the reasoning behind some of the context when twitter murders liberals, but I’m not catching on to this “coding” thing.
Can I have a backstory?

Pretty sure it's a dude or a raptor.

I'll take that bet.
What skill necessary for journalism is difficult to master? It's not like HuffPo contributors are quality writers.
