re: Has the Shroud of Turin been proven authentic?

It's been proven to be a hoax.
The way to prove it's a hoax is that faces don't transfer images onto shrouds. It's like the virgin birth; we don't need to prove it's fake.

the rectangular shroud contradicts Jewish burial tradition of the time which used two separate cloths for the body and the head, the shroud contradicts the Biblical description of Jesus's burial cloth,
Without commentary on your other assertions, I would point out that many Catholics who believe the Shroud is the genuine burial cloth of Jesus also believe that the Sudarium of Oviedo is the other, head cloth of Jesus. That would eliminate this conflict.
It's in Spain

painted an image on cloth with red ochre and vermillion tempera
I have seen countless documentaries where the assertion is that there is no pigment at all on the fibers.
Do you have a source for yourr assertion??
edit - I have googled the red ochre/shroud topic and find there is innumerable articles about it.
I obviously have not read them all but it seems there is evidence of red ochre present but most conclude that it was not used to form the image.
I will pursue this as time permits and I withdraw my request for you to provide a source.

I'm confused, how is pollen evidence that a man rose from the dead and floated up to heaven?
The shroud was supposedly forged in France in the 14th century. And yet pollen samples from Israel, specifically from the area around Jerusalem, show up on the shroud. Some of the pollen that shows up on the shroud only blooms during the spring - the season in which Christ was crucified. Interesting enough, one of those types of pollen found on the shroud originate from a thorn plant found ONLY in the fields around Jerusalem.
If this was a 14th century forgery, why would the forger use flowers from Israel? There was no need to get that elaborate because no one had the first clue about the different types of pollen found in plants back in those days.

That is correct. There are no known pigments of any kind found on the shroud, and the image itself is found only on the top strands of fibers on the cloth. If this was a forgery, it was done by the greatest artist no one has ever heard of.

the Sudarium of Oviedo
And it is more than likely part of the Shroud of Turin. The Sudarium is made of the same cloth as the Shroud, the blood is of the same type, and the blood flow patterns are remarkably similar.

My point is that of all possibilities, that piece of cloth showing an image left by a man rising from the dead is the least likely and most ridiculous.
Sure it's the least probable. But when you investigate something and look at all of the evidence, you don't stop at what is most probable.

Here's an hour-long lecture from one of the members of the original scientific team that studied the Shroud.

COINcidence?
Two coins were minted in 692 under the reign of Emperor Justinian II. They were the first coins ever minted with an image of Christ and appear to be based on the Shroud image as indicated by 180 matching points of congruence between the Shroud image and the coin image.

Just the Facts Rex and Hearings. Why do both of you ignore the Scientific FACTS?
The Carbon Dating of 1988 would not be admissible in a court of law. It would be thrown out.
2005: Thermal Chemist, Ray Rogers, followed up on new spectroscopic data showing the material of the corner cut for carbon dating may be different from the rest of the Shroud. He obtained thread samples from the C-14 corner and thread samples from the interior of the Shroud. Additional micro-chemical and spectroscopic tests showed the samples were not the same. Results published in a peer-reviewed journal confirmed initial concerns. The sample cut for C-14 dating is from a medieval reweaving and not part of the original shroud.
"The radiocarbon sample was not part of the original cloth of the Shroud of Turin. The radiocarbon date was thus not valid for determining the true age of the shroud.”
Rogers also determined the evidence of a madder root dye used to blend in the color of newer threads with the more yellowed threads of the original cloth. He also found cotton and starch in the C-14 sample but not from the main body of the Shroud. Starch was used to stiffen the cotton in order to make the repair.
The carbon dating tests of 1988 are now considered by many to be a complete debacle. The carbon labs violated the sampling protocol established for the tests in 1985. Three different samples were to be cut; instead only one sample was used. Ignoring caution from archaeologists, they cut the sample from the most handled area of the cloth, the outside corner edge exactly where it had been grabbed and held by Church authorities for numerous public exhibitions.
It was an area that had the most potential for contamination, damage and repair.

Summary of Key Facts:
Tests performed by STURP:
Particle analysis
Chemical analysis
Blood analysis
Photo microscopy
Spectroscopy
X-ray radiography
Infra-red thermography
X-ray fluorescence spectrometry
Photo scans from infrared to ultra-violet And more
RESULTS:
No inorganic pigments present
No substances manually applied to cloth
No artistic substances are on the cloth
No collagen binder as would be used with paint Blood tests positive for heme, bile, serum albumin and other blood components. The blood is AB positive with human DNA.
“The blood marks seen on the shroud are consistent with a contact transfer to the cloth of blood clot exudates that would have resulted from major wounds inflicted on a man who died in the position of crucifixion.” -Dr. Al Adler
Image Characteristics:
Purely superficial -- penetrates only top 2 micro- fibers. Does not penetrate the cloth.
Yellowing of image is uniform in intensity
No capillary action apparent
No cementing of fibers to each other No substances between threads
No directionality to image
No outline to image
The image is a negative
Contains distance information similar to a topographical map.
STURP Conclusion:
"It is clear that there has been a direct contact of the Shroud with the body, which explains certain features such as the scourge marks, as well as the blood. However, while this type of contact might explain some features of the torso, it is totally incapable of explaining the image. There are no chemical or physical methods known which can account for the totality of the image, nor can any combination of physical, chemical, biological, or medical circumstances explain the image adequately."

The more technology has advanced, the more evidence they have collected that prove the Shroud was from the time of Christ.
If it was a fake one would expect advances in technology to collect evidence against it' authenticity instead of proving it's authenticity.
They found AB type blood, not paint....and the list goes on.

Doubtful.
There is far more evidence pointing to the authenticity of the shroud than vice versa.

Yes - this thing is a great mystery to me.
It is literally impossible for a forger in the middle ages to create an object that thwarts all the scientific tests we have at our disposal today.
Hell, you cannot even create that thing today. At least I have never heard of anyone coming anywhere close to making a duplicate.
Before I die, I'd like to know the mechanism by which that image was created.

The Bible says to not throw your pearls before swine. Regardless if this cloth is authentic or not, No amount of proof would convince these non believers. Sometimes a person has to reach his lowest point before he will look up. Lucky for them, our God is waiting.
