If they had a council of aging in the government, i would totally agree with it

Shreveport is Baron Rouge without LSU

I liked the Lafayette of the late 90’s and early to mid 2000’s. When Jefferson Street started to get bars and restaurants it was a great place. I’ve heard some negative things about downtown as of late, unfortunately.

The actual city of Lafayette sucks balls. The towns around it are nice

It did a long time ago and the gap continues to widen

Name one thing Baton Rouge does better than Lafayette re quality of life.
Schools? Nope.
Infrastructure? No.
Crime? Lol
Things to do? This is about a wash but BR has more dining and bars. Though neither city kills it in that department.
Housing? Not even close. You get way more for your dollar in Lafayette.

it’s really not a comparison unless you are going to LSU sporting events all the time.

You're overlooking Funroe!

Downtown is way nicer during the day than it used to be. Downtown started getting ghetto at night around 5 years ago when ATC closed down a bunch of north side bars. Troy Hebert was a fricking disaster as head of ATC.

I've lived in Louisiana about 40 of my nearly 42 years and I've never been to Funroe

Just like downtown Baton Rouge until Broome took office. Third Street was thriving and new restaurants and bars were opening. Then came Broome and her police chief puppet who decided to start enforcing the open container laws. Now the culcha element is starting to take hold downtown and many bars have closed their doors.

World class food, great entertainment options, beautiful architecture, parks, etc.
Let me guess, you’ve been to New Orleans 4 times, have been to Bourbon St every time you’ve been there, and eat at Acme Oyster House each time as well.

Lafayette is safer, has better public schools, nicer mardi gras, and offers a much better pace of life for families. However, Lafayette’s economy is really struggling, and it shows in the nightlife and entertainment options which aren’t as good as BR’s these days, which aren’t great either.
Lafayette is pretty nice, but it still feels a little too small to me. It needs to get that oil money back flowing to leave BR in the dust. Lafayette has all the potential in the world.
