I've long since quit. But when I was starting, I looked up how to make your own pouches and it was easy and cheap. Can prolly do it for $1.50ish a can

If it was only that easy.

That’s how I did it dipped for 4 years then smoked for 6. Started dipping at 14 and smoking when I was 18. Stopped at 24 then started again when I was 29. It wasn’t because I was craving them, I just wanted to smoke again because the bar I go to is a smoking bar and it’s something to do. Then just stopped this past January cold Turkey again after smoking a pack a day+ for the last 3 years. Sure it sucks the first 2 weeks but it’s not THAT tough. Again, just don’t buy them and you can’t do it. It’s mental.

Nicotine gum helped me quit dipping a few years ago and I have been pretty good since. I get the cravings all the time though.

Since you don’t actually chew the gum, but bite it a few times and then tuck it between your lip and gums, it essentially feels kind of like a dip.

you have a link? I wasnt trying to be an arse or anything. they havent been around long enough to compare long term effects, and short term effects dont show any difference. It's still addictive nicotine, still an irritant to your mouth and throat, and they have additives and chemicals in them that cured and dried tobacco doesnt have. Anecdotally, they always give me heart burn and nausea which I never get with dip or pouches.

I didnt say it was worse i just said it wasnt any better. Which is so far proven to be true.

Before the dipshits took it over, vaping got me to quit for about 3 years. I picked up smoking again recently due to stress though.

About to try zyn and see how effective that is.

nicotine, while addictive, doesn't cause cancer. tobacco does, really not much to it

I dipped for 12-13 years and recently switched to Zyn about 6 months ago. It wasn't even the nicotine I was trying to get away from, it was the tobacco portion. Scares the hell out of me seeing people with hairy tongues, or their lip having to be removed because of dipping tobacco. Plus I work in an office and hated having to hide my spit cup when someone would come in.

I like the Zyns and haven't had urges to go back to regular dip since the switch.

I like rouge as a dip replacement more than zyns. They’re a bit thicker and more flavorful. I quit dip with Costco nicotine lozenges tucked between gum and lip years ago, then weaned myself off those. Just use a zyn or a rogue now when those times like cutting the grass, long drive, golf, ballgame, etc usually called for a wad of grizzly wintergreen.

I’ll tell you the hardest thing for me is all the guys I work with dip. So every day I walk into the office and I smell it in the air and damn if I can’t help myself

If I want to start a nicotine addiction would the gum be a good starting point?

If you’ve made it 10 days then you have passed the physiological addiction and it’s psychological at that point. Find a replacement behavior not involving nicotine.

I quit dipping by switching to chewing tobacco. Never bought another can again.

I quit dipping when Copenhagen hit $8.30/can. I enjoyed dipping and had no desire to quit Copenhagen.

But I realized I was spending too much money on a habit and that those "sin taxes" were funding handouts.

Technically you’re right. I stopped though for 5 years. And now I’ve quit.

It doesn’t cause cancer, but nicotine is a very potent vasoconstrictor and cause strokes and heart attacks.
