I've rescued dogs off highways. Can be dangerous. Both for you and the dog.
If someone does go, go calmly, bring some food, or a treat, kneel down and see if the dog will approach you.
May be also good to have a second person flank you so that he won't just take off running, and into traffic.

Bring a collar and a leash.
Also a good idea to have a cage/ crate in your vehicle for him to be placed once rescued

Don't beat yourself up on it, you've already done more than most others would.

Well the one on the interstate has a red scarf/collar and what appears to be a leash.

The face looks darker, much darker but that could be sunlight or shadow or something.

About the same size though.

If it's her dog then the OT continues to deliver.

Someone please let her know the police were also notified and although unlikely, they may have already picked it up.

I'll bet it is her dog and if she finds it, this OT experience will change me a little. Even if she doesn't, the OT did it's part.

It is her son's dog, he was in a wreck and evidently Rico took off.

Jody you're a good dude and I don't have Facebook. If you could, follow up with this gal and let us all know if she recovered the dog.

Sounds good. If you're able to. Could you follow up with her and let us know if she recovered the dog?

Her last post was 44 minutes ago and she said she was on her way. I will check back later for a follow up.

My cat was 6 weeks old walking the shoulder on I-10 West near the Laccassine Exit. I got off at the next exit and double backed. She has been my shadow ever since. I've never had an animal love me like my Lolo. 7 years ago this month.
