Red flag.

She told me that she had been going to some pro-choice rally I dismissed it at first as trendy, I mean she's a woman in her 20s, and it's sort of expected. Now I see she's starting to attend Boston "Party for Socialism and Liberation" events and "Boston Socialist Alternative". She's been regurgitating typical left-wing talking points.

Red flag.

My Dad is 77 and a lot older than you but after my Mom died my Dad met a woman that was totally opposite of him. He is a MAGA hat wearing Trump man that keeps his TV on FOX News. He is a Vietnam veteran and never went to college but made a good living as an operator at a Plant for 20 years before starting his own business and now lives a very comfortable retirement. I should mention that he is also a dog lover and has always had at least one dog in the house. The woman he has been seeing is a 74-year-old college educated liberal who watches CNN all day and has a cat. She goes to museums and the theater. Things that my Dad has never done.

He has come to the realization that the left and the right is being brain washed by both news outlets and have learned that they are not going to change each other's beliefs but can still enjoy each other company.

Now starting a life and having kids with someone that has polar opposite beliefs is a different story.

My wife is a mild liberal and I am a mild conservative (we probably both fall in line with being a libertarian).

Neither of us are political so you won't see us talking about politics. If we do, we just agree to disagree. On the major issues (like abortion) we have the same views so it is not really a "make or break" for us.

I would have more trouble if my wife was a Bama fan than if she was a democrat. (Tongue in cheek)

She's been infected by the social contagion.

I'm sorry. It's too late

She'll have blue hair and boogerhooks soon and she'll make you watch while she fricks her boyfriend

Not really what you want to hear because I'm sure you really love her, but Boston is doing a number on her, and by the time she gets back, she will be a different person. Hell, she very well may decide to stay in Boston because Florida is such an oppressive place (/s).

Have y'all got into any arguments about this stuff? Or hashed it out at all?

My advice is that you are 27, and you are at a great age to cut bait, be single, slay tail, and find someone who believes the same fundamentals as you. It seems like a big concern for you, so follow your heart. It will hurt because 8 years is a long arse time, but you'll get over it after a few months. Hell, with the trajectory she is on, she'll probably get a butch haircut with green or purple hair, get a bunch of tattoos, and turn lesbian shortly after you break it off, and that will make things MUCH MUCH easier for you. Your future self will thank you very much.

Anyway, g'luck.

Her liberalism is a shallow fashion trend that will wear off after she lives with you and has kids.

This is true but she would have to go to the bedroom to watch CNN with the cat because anyone that has politics on tv all day is insane.

The Bible answers this question for you in plain and simple terms: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

100% correct.

OP, you’ve been with this one chick for basically your whole adult life, during which she’s been in her prime and you haven’t yet been in yours. You are about to enter the prime of a man’s life, and she is not only about to hit a general decline in her own life, but she’s showing you a ton of red flags that she’s going to drag you down with her misery. If you stay and try to make it work, she’s going to make you miserable. Guarantee it.

Cut bait and you’ll see in five years what you avoided and what you got instead and you’ll thank your baws on the OT

Best of luck. Modern dating sucks but nothing can be as bad as being stuck with a loony woman for your whole life.

She's outgrowing you, and not in a good way. It's one thing to have slight differences of opinion, but going full blown socialist isn't a slight difference.

I think it could work with someone who is left leaning but if she’s a hardcore progressive who doesn’t share your values, move on
