Has anyone here ever had a job offer pulled due to failing a background check?

When I was offered my new job last week, before I accepted I told the recruiter who called to offer me the position I had a pending misdemeanor case in Clark County and before I could even finish my sentence she cut me off and said "Won't be a problem". I said that would be the only possible hiccup on my background check since I have no other criminal record ever. Because she was adamant it would not be a problem I went ahead and accepted the offer, turned down other opportunities, and begun to make preparations such as moving, signing a lease on an apartment, and buying a new computer/monitor/desk for my new home office.

Today I was called by someone at my new company(not the recruiter) asking for clarification on the arrest for a misdemeanor charge that showed up on my background check. I told him I hired a lawyer to take care of it and that my next court hearing is on October 19. He then told me to give a statement on what happened in terms of my arrest which I did. I told him that the recruiter told me this would not be an issue and he said that he couldn't speak for her but it was his job to investigate things like this. He was asking for a police report, video footage, and other things I don't have access to. I told him that I have not been found guilty of anything and my lawyer is working to get the case dismissed and thinks there is a good chance that happens.

Anyway this kind of ruined my day since now I am kind of anxious that this could possibly derail things. It's a low level misdemeanor charge that worst case scenario for me gets plead down to basically a citation level offense. But with corporate America these days you never know if they will overreact.

No...but I have puller offers due to background check. I would have kept some of the offers on the table of up to me based on interview, but I work in behavioral health and my field has licensing standards....out of my hands

How don’t you have access to those things? When you get access, do you mind posting them here?

What is the charge?

Is this the one where you snapped at the guys in the van and attacked them and beat the shite out of the van?

Yeah, I definitely want to bring that loose cannon onboard.

Should I have easy access to that? I hired a lawyer to take care of it all.

Yes. Your lawyer should collect those things, assuming they exist, and share them with you.

If your lawyer has it, then you have it.

That's not what happened.

I was nearly hit by a casino security truck when jogging across a crosswalk that I had the walk symbol for and I slapped the back of their truck to get their attention to let them know that they almost hit me. Then they went George Floyd on me when I tried to snap a picture of their license plate. I didn't attack anybody.

Does a fake resume, identity and zero qualifications count?

You shouldnt have told them anything since you havent been convicted. Most job apps ask if you have been convicted, not charged.

A recruiter doesnt have any say in that matter. Dunno why they would step in like they did

I've never seen video of the incident... when I realized I was going to jail the CCPD officer told me it was the video footage above the crosswalk that did me in since it showed me striking the vehicle. I didn't know if he was just saying that or not. The cops who arrived on scene(I was the one who called them) took sworn written statements from the security guards, but not me.

Is this poster making up the incident? The job search? The background check? All of the above?
