Went to a JW funeral. They said almost nothing about the deceased, just strung together several Bible verses for an hour or so. I frankly can’t remember for sure whose funeral it was. Very impersonal.

But they are committed, much more so than your average Protestant or Catholic. No birthday or holiday celebrations, plain church buildings, simple lifestyles. Wife had some relatives in it, and they went to the woods to camp throughout the Christmas season to separate themselves from all that idolatry and excess.

I think one of there teachings is only 144,000 will ascent into Heaven at the end.

If there is any validity to there teaching I sure would not be spreading their message around.
I have always said - at least they put their money where their mouth is.

Only 144K to ascend to heaven to rule for eternity with god...and they are ACTIVELY RECRUITING.

Of course, they also believe in the "great crowed" that will be left for eternity on the restored paradise of earth.

I worked with a JW. He was/is the biggest backstabbing person I have ever met. He went to great lengths to screw most everyone.

No windows in the Kingdom Halls has always seemed a bit odd to me.

Two JW men came to my door a few years back. The guy who was doing the talking had a massive booger hanging out of his nose.

I was trying to hook up with this JW chick before I realized how cultish they are. She invited me to the Kingdom Hall for a service, so I went.

Literally nothing. This was over 25 years ago. Met her at work. I tried my best. Today, she works in my organization. She's one of our hardest working employees. She's in her 50's now and one of my best work friends. Never dated anyone, never kissed a guy (according to her, and I believe her) and she's still a dreamboat (sorry, no pics)

She is a staunchly DEVOUT witness, was never going to date or marry any guy who wasn't as or more devout as her, didn't want kids because "why would you want to bring children into the world during the end days?" Sad. I always wondered why JW guys weren't lining up at her door. Absolute cucks.

Come to think of it, I worked with another JW a few years before moving to this company. Total smokeshow, kinda quirky in but very hot, and had the goofiest bf one could imagine. A true what-in-the-actual-frick situation.

One of 3 things you never invite into your home. The other 2 are vampires and the police.

would probably be a very popular sect if they’d drop the cultish shite, stop thinking we are in “the end days” and forget their ridiculous interpretation of Revelations.

Don't forget the prohibition against blood transfusions or blood products. Also they think that higher education makes one too worldly and is a bad thing.

Shunning family especially children or parents is the biggest red flag one could find for cultist behavior.

Fur sure. The shunning is the worst for me. What a tragic thing to do to family. They don't vote. No holidays. Unashamedly bastardized version of the bible. The 144,000 super-angels idea. In the "next world" or whatever they call it, you can have pet lions and other savage beasts because all animals are magically tamed. The list goes on and on.

As annoying and twisted as it is, they are good at evangelism with their publications and door-to-door work. They embrace science to a certain degree. They stay politically neutral, I guess by design. All of my experience with them outside of their beliefs indicates to me they are very good people overall. If they'd stick to what they do well, ditch the other 90% crazy, misled shite and just become normal Christians, they'd draw a pretty good following.

Isn't Barry Sanders a Jehova's Witness?

I don't know but I believe the Williams sisters are/were, which isn't shocking considering their batshit crazy father.

Like the sovereign citizen movement, this is one of the weird items of culture that was overtaken by black people for some random reason

I’ve always been curious about this “religion” only because none of the buildings they assemble in have any windows ?

I have always heard that but I have seen a few with windows. I know few ppl are are JW and I have asked them about it. I would never tell them this because I consider them friends and all are outstanding ppl but that religion is weird as frick.

funny you saying that. The JW I know are all black. But as I said above all of them are great people and also you never hear anything racial out of them at least the ones I know.

Why would any orthodox Christian attend a "church" filled with Arian heretics? Their beliefs were declared anathema by the Council of Nicaea in AD 325 and the Council of Constantinople in AD 381. And yet this heresy cropped back up again in the 1870s in the form of Charles Taze Russell and Joseph Franklin Rutherford.
