Has anyone ever successfully gotten a local DMV office on the phone?

I have a fairly straightforward question and want to ask it over the phone instead of driving there and waiting ??? hours in line. I've been calling two, different local DMV offices all morning, and the result is always the same, I either get a busy signal or the phone just perpetually rings with no answer.

This is not the first incident in which I've had this happen, and I've NEVER gotten anyone on the phone.

Impossible. What you are asking for is basic competency to answer a phone. Quit expecting miracles

Once after 58 minutes on hold. Dialed the number, put it on speaker, and went about my normal routine until someone picked up and answered my question. This was day 3 of trying.

no, and it seems like for some offices in some cities, the only phone line that works is the fax line.

Probably about the same chance as you getting the post office on the phone

yes..... after waiting. what you should do is call them on your ride home from work. you might get in touch with them before you get home assuming you will be in BR traffic.

this is also assuming you get off at 3

I did this one day i was off while running errands around the city

The mayoress of the city of New Orleans would like to acknowledge your persistence but remind you that the DMV is not your enemy and continued persistence to get things done or get an answer to your question will result in a complete shutdown of all accessibility to you and revocation of your license.

Surprisingly, yes. It was after an insanely long wait, though.

trying to contact any state office is frustrating. I was on hold with the GA State DOT for about an hour one day to ask a question. I get the recording to press 1 to hold your place in line and you will be called back in the order of your call. I think well this will be fine, so I press 1. Then I get the notice that the mailbox is full and it hangs up on me. I have pretty much resorted to calling the number at 7:59 am and hoping for the best.

When in doubt call the office in Eunice. They pick up.

One call, answered on second ring, was able to answer my question immediately.

Thank you.

They have this fancy thing called the internet now.

If you go to the MVD website they very likely have the answer.

Or just ask the OT.

eta: And the OT provides.

See they must only answer phones when I'm in the lobby. I swear to Christ they answer a phone and babble on it every other person to try to remove any hope of an expedited endeavor.

I once tried calling and was on hold for 30 minutes before hanging up.

Sent them an email and they responded within a day.

Weird.

I actually got baton rouge to answer once, but the guy didnt really have an answer for my question, he said he was going to get someone that can help me and just hung up. Everyday I called after that it gave me the auto we are experiencing high call volume try again later.

Who do you call to complain about these people? Last time I went in, its like clockwork, fat woman has to get up and go to the printer/copier. On her slow walk she stops and haves small convos with every other woman worker there. then she makes her copy walks back slowly. Watched this bitch do this for the 20 people in front of me.

They could move this along much faster, get people out and have time to sit around and not do shite.
