Has anyone ever been on the sling shot ride?

I’m terrified of these types of rides but I love seeing people’s reactions on it. For those who have been on it did y’all ever pass out? I saw this video and I don’t know if it’s fake or not but I still laughed my arse off.

Yes, in Gulf Shores at the place with the big wooden kart track many years ago. I love those kind of rides but the person I rode with didn’t. It was just like those videos on Youtube.

What is the biological/innate cause of this reaction, to pass out due to intense fear, in an uncontrollable situation?
Is the body essentially, involuntarily going unconscious so as not to experience the excruciating pain of being eaten alive by a predator?
Of course, by kicking in to early, it negates all avenues of escape.

He didn’t pass out due to fear. He passed out due to the G forces pulling blood away from his brain during acceleration. The same reason pass out in a jet fighter. This is why pilots wear a special suit that squeezes their lower extremities during high speed maneuvers to keep the blood from pooping in their legs and causing them to pass out. You can watch videos of people flying with the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds and passing out multiple times as they maneuver.

The older I get, the more I avoid these types of rides.
When you're a kid you just put blind trust into the safety.
As an adult you see how many people frick up or take shortcuts and realize... nope these things aren't 100% foolproof.

Long time ago, wasn’t bad on the way up, freaky when you get to the top then the ball rolls and you start to free fall. I rode it with a girl, she was calm as could be, I was white knuckling that thing trying not to scream.

Did something similar, where you’re dollied up 11 stories in the air strapped into a harness, and then you have to pull a strap to be released. That scared the shite out of me. Might be the most afraid I’ve ever been.
