Being a doctor just means you memorized a lot of material. There’s really no critical thinking required except for research positions.

It’s the insurance companies that are the issue. They dictate medical decision making much more than physicians do. Physicians can’t do anything without a nod from insurance
this.... 10000000%
between "middle men", like PBMs, and insurance companies, medical practitioners, at all levels, really don't have much say and aren't the ones calling the shots... you are basically bound to what they will cover and what the patient can afford after insurance decides what they'll pay for and what they won't

Why not just change providers if you don't trust your doctor? Why take medical advice from people on the internet who claim "they've done the research"?

You’d think people would’ve lost respect for big pharma after it was confirmed beyond any semblance of a doubt that they purposefully unleashed the opioid epidemic on us. Instead, it took a politicized virus for people to wake up to that racket.

Sorry if you feel like you've lost any respect doctor
I don't think they lost any respect in their own mind. Every morning they get up to look in the mirror and say good morning you magnificent life-saving bastard.

I have zero trust in doctors and less than that in the pharmaceutical industry.

“ There’s really no critical thinking required”
That’s not true for lot of surgery specialties.C.V.surgeons will spend a good bit of time studying films with Cardiologists, and reviewing Medical records to determine if the pt.will benefit from surgery or should they have a stent. Also make an educated guess as to if the pt.will survive the surgery.
It’s not cut and dry like a plumber going to a house to fix some busted pipes.
Orthopedic surgeons often have to try and decide if surgery is justified or should pt.try P.T.
I would guess a lot of surgeries are not just cut and dry as one would think.

Definitive and final rankings on who lost the most respect the past five years:
1. Main stream media
2. Doctors / healthcare
3. Big Tech

We all realized most doctors are useless unless they are surgeons or specialists. My kid's pediatrician is a 28 year old single woman with no kids and wants to lecture me on how to raise a child.

My buddy is a welder and he knows way more about medicine than any doctor. He listened to a bunch of podcasts and started eating only beef liver fried in tallow and he can see through walls now.
Well, it's likely your welder friend didn't recommend statins for small children or take bribes from Big Sugar, leading to massive spikes in obesity across the country. So, maybe he does know more.

To intelligent people, doctors haven't lost any respect.
They are dedicated, well-educated, and work by an oath. Many times, their work is literally life amd death.
Pray tell, what is your line of work?

We're not the ones letting them. That'd be the government and big business. We haven't had a say in jack shite for decades.
