So they can arrest you and put you in jail and it's ok because she amended her paperwork to include jaywalking? And I am so glad brass2mouth understands like anyone gives a flying frick.
Who amended paperwork?
Y’all still don’t get it.
THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT THAT THEY TELL YOU WHAT THEIR SUSPICION IS.
Her mentioning the gun doesn’t negate her ability to ask him ID for the jwalking.
None of y’all have cited any law or any source saying you are correct. Just butthurt that the law isn’t the way you want it to be. And I even agree with you that it should be the way you say, but it’s not

The police can't detain you for secret reasons
That's absurd

The law says the have to have reasonable suspicion.
It doesn’t say that they HAVE TO INFORM you of their reasonable suspicion.
Just post a fricking link since it’s so obvious and straightforward. Why is that so hard?

The stupidity of all of this is these two fricking moron cops arrest him for "resisting arrest" while the body cams are recording the very opposite of resisting. These dumb fricks better have a back up plan in life.

they kind of can..to an extent. but its not good nor standard practice for obvious reasons and would backfire bigly with tons more lawsuits for violations.
but this is all obfuscation and hypothetical things wawa is arguing. its clear the cops got butthurt and retaliated against the man for his attitude. they explained why they stopped him and only escalated because they didnt like his attitude. pretending they truly had some undisclosed secret reason justifies the rest is just nonsense.

The amount of police that don't understand simple rights is mine boggling.

bc this isnt that hypothetical. in reality, they did inform him of their suspicion. you are just hung up on some nonsense they came up with after the fact to justify/ buff their report.
why is it so hard for you to see what clearly happened in that video was an obvious retaliation for the disrespect of asking officers to identify themselves.

There is actually a nonviolent resisting charge that they can probably get him on.
That’s what I’ve had explained to me and what I’ve researched seems to confirm that.
I think the bottom line is there are way too many nonviolent laws on the books. It’s absurd

When are you going to link the law that says they have to provide ALL their reasonable suspicions before they ask for your identification? I’m still waiting.
She could have 5 reasons to have reasonable suspicion. If she names one of them it doesn’t negate the others. And that’s irrelevant because they don’t even have to say what it is.
He can refuse and fight it in court but he will probably lose unless he has evidence

Meh, I’d hit it only because I lack standards

they didnt have to explain their suspicion but the harsh reality is they did. they made stuff up later to justify it which you vigorously defend.
but at the end of the day any reasonable individual looking into this sees these scumbags got exposed.
this dude is gonna get a fat check lmao.

I’m not going to argue this with you because I agree it’s fricking absurd but there are nonviolent verbal scenarios where you can be charged with resisting in Florida and it’s been upheld in court.
So he can fight it in court but odds aren’t in his favor.

Well HERE, she told him she thought it was because he had a gun. Shortly thereafter he shows her it's clearly not a gun. There was no reason her interaction with him shouldn't have ended immediately after that and that he shouldn't have been allowed to go on his way - no reason whatsoever.

Did she say that was the only reason?
He kept cutting her off.
Are you only allowed to have one reason?

There's no possible way to read any context in the video and discern that they were ever going after him for jaywalking. Defending this one is a strange hill to die on and I usually find these anti-cop ranters giant douchebags.
Leave the guy alone and let him be on his way when you realize he's not carrying a gun. Geesh. It's not that hard. Guy was never anything more than just slightly perturbed about being stopped.
