$22 trillion in debt is the biggest legacy of Baby Boomers imo.

How else are we supposed to advance "freedom" and "democracy" worldwide? (TM)

One of the boomers biggest mistakes if not biggest, was letting the military-industrial complex takeover this country after WWII. And Eisenhower warned them about it. Our debt would be so much more manageable if we hadn't spent the last 70 years meddling across the globe and creating enemies left and right.

Yeah that was the start of it. But the 80's were totally boomers and the 80's set this current path in motion moreso than JFK. Hell, JFK was going to wrap up the Vietnam fiasco before he got assassinated. Then you get the warhawks like Johnson in and that's all she wrote.

When the puppet Reagan was put in place, that really accelerated American interventionism.

Just going off of your chart, the 80's had the highest peak of spending post-WWII until we got to Bush II and the 2nd round of the middle east. That's more than a bump I'd say.

And that just is the official on the books number. That doesnt count all the shady shite Bush's CIA was up to with people like Ollie North.

Nah it was temporary. And worth it if meant the end of the Cold War. We were taught in school we wouldn't live to graduate due to cooling earth, MAD, and pollution.

Doing duck and cover as a kid does something to your psyche.

The end of the Cold War is the single greatest thing I've seen in my lifetime

Not worth it at all. Nothing is temporary with government spending. They wasted trillions trying to outspend a country that had missiles that were completely non-functional.

It was all just an excuse to throw more money into the defense industry like I said earlier.

Well that's the very simple minded version

Interestingly we had one of the larger demilitarizations since WWII when the curtain fell.

The world is an exponentially better place since the Cold War ended.

This will be a constant theme in this thread. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. We are always looking to point a finger at someone besides ourselves.

I'm a college kid and idk how you want to phrase it but im definitely a milliennial and not a gen Z. I have older siblings and a brother 3 years younger and the gap between me and my little brother is scary. I don't really know any socialist or even close. I will say the conservative to liberal mindset is closing the gap every year but I don't really give a shite about them because I'll be going places while they bitch and moan. My problem with some older generations is that I was always taught that respect is earned not given and most jackasses now are just power driven idiots who don't want to be challenged or give younger guys a shot. Yeah there are alot of idiots but using your argument against some of you, why don't y'all stop bitching and try hard enough to find the good workers and see the good that the younger generations can bring. Just like some of you don't care about us, I don't give a crap about what you've done other than what can you do for me and my future. Bitch and tell me I'm worthless? That helps everybody right? Some older generations have their money and they don't give a shite about helping our future because that would mean they would have to take time to teach and train people that aren't like them and that's just too much of a hassle. They would rather just know they are better and smarter and continue to dig us a hole. I really think some people don't want us to be smarter because we will start to see all the BS that will be dropped in our lap for when we get older and we are the only ones not benefitting from it.

Christ on a cracker, you need to learn how to write. Whatever you've paid for your education has been wasted.

The stream of consciousness was one thing, the grammatical errors another, the absolute lack of a coherent point was the final straw.

That's the reality of it. Is it a better place? I think its debatable. And it goes against the principles the country was founded on.

And can you really claim victory when you mortgaged the economic future of your country when you did it? Sounds like a pyrrhic victory to me.

Its pretty late. Probably should have waited til the morning to get more points for correct ? and ,

But my overall point was that there is not much teaching anymore and just a lot of complaining. I understand the lesson of how older generations built most of their income from putting in the hard work and not having anything handed to them. The problem is those same people who were hungry then are now just greedy and want to benefit more from the younger generations than wanting to educate them or set them up for any success.
