Wen tfrom ~$300 to nearly $900 this past renewal. I do feel much better having it though.
I feel the same way when the premium becomes due, but then I think about the $85K check to fix damage from Katrina.

Wait... What's the weather going to be like in BR? Today is pretty nice.
There's a portion of Ascension that will have water issues with any type of extended rain event. My guess is it's easier for APSB to just shut down the whole system rather than try and close "potentially" affected schools/roads. For example, I'm pretty sure my oldest could get to Dutchtown pretty easily, but my younger kid might have an issue getting to Prairieville Middle depending on what Muddy Creek gets up to

Lots of folk end up walking away from house, too far in the hole on debt owed on house combined with lack of funds to repair.
I'll add that many were torn down.
...and then came the damage assessment. If you are in a flood zone and have xx% damage you have to raise your house to get flood insurance. Banks require flood insurance if you are in a flood plain. It is a clusterfuk.

And for the ones that do have flood insurance... just wait until the bank decides that they want to apply the insurance money to pay off your mortgage and make you take out a new mortgage to fix your house. That happened a lot after Katrina

They've had to go into a shutdown by now.
Storage tanks the issue?

homes estimated to be flooded in Friendswood, and only 1,000 have flood insurance.
In rare situations like these I would have no problem with the government having some type of financial aid to help those without insurance

Do you know what neighborhood that is? I assume that's right up against the back of Addicks - Maybe Bear Creek or Lakes of Eldridge?

Flood insurance won't pay to raise your house either, despite it being a solid six figure expense.
