I had family working in Lake Charles. They evacuated before Harvey made landfall in Texas luckily. I have family in Lafayette that are worried, though. They flooded last August and the uproot almost did them in. 4 kids all under 10 and it really put a lot of stress on them, like everyone else that was affected I'm sure.
I'm hoping Harvey is minimal in Louisiana.

Just watched footage of a swift water rescue that looks like it came from a traffic camera. Water was nearly to the roof of the vehicle containing the person being rescued. Next to the skill of the boat's driver with a tiller steer outboard in the high velocity stream (street) it was impressive that the car's windshield wipers were still rolling in spite of being nearly submerged.

Thing about that map though isn't it's isn't accurate at all. Sure it's somewhat of a prediction but a band can train across an area 50 miles one way or another. That spot with 19 inches forcased by Lake Ponch could easily be on top of NO or anywhere else in S La

Yeah, the exact location should be taken with a grain of salt. The point is those type of totals are possible in the general area.

Not looking good for Houston this morning... Looks like the Northern blob of convection is beginning to consolidate and will train over Houston continuously until this thing begins moving north and out.

The NAM is showing development of a line of storms currently to the east of New Orleans. That line trains over the gulf south of Mobile, and then the bands of Harvey move over the area through the forecast.

Just insane. Even once all the water finally recedes and the humanitarian issues are addressed, imagine how long it's going to take to inspect major highways that were fully submerged for structural integrity.
