New Dvorak out of UW has 942.4 mb and surface speed of 117.4 kt or 134ish mph. Very possible thing thing lands as a cat 4...
Just be happy this thing didnt have more time over the ocean.
To be honest, once you get to those wind speeds, it doesn't really matter a whole lot. Not much is going to withstand sustained winds of that magnitude.

Brain spasm. I haven't been able to follow but did get chastised for asking if louisiana was in the clear.

What constitutes landfall, when the eye hits land?

Not "in the clear" but any significant impacts do not look likely at all. That's less true as you move west toward LC. I'm not running around prepping or anything. Just mainlining the Weather Channel and GOES 16.

Latest recon has an unofficial surface reading of 113kt/111mph, which means Harvey may very soon be upgraded to Cat 4.

Are you on twitter/instagram/Snapchat/Reddit/Wordpress or any other site where I can see your updates without wading through pages of OT comments?
I sincerely appreciate what you do. Just wish I could see it without the snark. Then come back to the OT and knuckle check some fools once I know the latest.

This may have been posted already, but are there any links to live streams in this thread?
the University of Oklahoma radar team is there studying the landfall of the hurricane and live streaming it here.
could get good, but the video isn't much to see right now.

Strong convection. Warm moist ocean air getting sucked up rapidly and getting converted to some wind energy. Basically, it's still strengthening when you see that. It's showing us the mechanism for strengthening is still going strong.
