Hey, sorry.

I did get you confused with Chuker.....he was under estimating the amounts. It wasn't you. Sorry again.

The NHC has really shifted the projected path to the west with this advisory

Seems odd since it seemed to be moving almost due North earlier.

Responding to the Euro coming into consensus with the other models. Won't find the weakness to the NE.

This is Cat 4 level
yeah but they're looking for surface winds when determining intensity. sometimes it takes time for the winds to mix all the way down.

same with that oil rig observation someone posted earlier. oil rigs usually have pretty tall anemometers so they're not considered surface obs.

Is this the part where it suddenly circles back into the gulf and everyone collectively shits their pants?

Harvey looks like he's going to be intensifying right into landfall. Rockport or whoever catch the right front eyewall are going be for a hell of a ride. Could very well have a strengthening Cat 4 on top of them

Just crazy but atmospheric conditions have been nearly perfect for intensification. Luckily, Harvey had to battle that intense outer convective band yesterday and the subsidence from it. Took 12 to 18 hours to mix that out. Otherwise, Harvey would probably be a Cat 5 on approach.

Usually storms weaken before landfall. Why is this different?

All good. I lived in Shore Acres when Ike hit. As an engineering professional in Houston I'm sure you're familiar with effects.

Was thinking the same thing. Hope they have recon in there until landfall (suspect they will).

It's amazing what little features like that outer band can do to impact the system. Seeing such organization in such a complex system is rather awe inspiring.

Not sure, but they pretty much just took LA out of the mix with this last update.

Then I made the right call changing my connection in Houston on Thursday.
