I don't professionally "work" for anyone in a weather capacity. I "voluntarily work for" Stormcast.

Oh man, I just noticed you're a TD premium member too! Congrats... I'm pretty pissed about our dues going up this year.

My opinion isn't professional, I have quite a few professionals on our staff that I talk with all day, and others in the weather community, but my knowledge is nothing compared to others here.

Recon update: Orion is headed back inland and Hercules is headed back out, leaving the Louisiana coast now.

That's all anybody can do. I'm holed up in a hotel room with the gf and two dogs. I'm getting more and more nervous as it gets closer. I'd hate to think I may lose what I've worked hard to obtain from a job/life standpoint.

I'm going to load up on beer tomorrow and start drinking. It certainly won't make things worse.

Nothing showing now, but this guy left his camera streaming at his house in Corpus Christi after he evacuated so It should stay up til electricity goes out.

Here is another one from Aransas Pass: (Basically right where it's supposed to landfall)

Haha I did the same thing. But then I unplugged all my electronics and killed the wifi and thus the cameras. Lack of sleep plus adrenaline. It should be interesting going home.

I forgot to power down. For me, I don't think that will matter. Hard to sleep up here with Lord knows what on the horizon.

I've been through hurricanes before, but it's different as a homeowner.

Prayers to you and all our Texas neighbors. We certainly know what you all are experiencing. Jobs can be replaced, insurance certainly helps with lost homes but you can't replace lost lives. I know that may not be so comforting while under the gun from this storm but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that you and your family is safe.

Eye looks to be tightening back up as Harvey approaches

Unfortunately convection looks to be intensifying in the northern bands as well... which doesn't look good for the flooding potential in Houston and other points north of landfall.

Doesn't look suspect to me. High end cat 2 winds but intensifying into a cat 3. Might be Cat 3 by next update.

edit: dropsonde found 106kt just above the surface. Harvey is going to be a cat 3.

I hope it just pushes through and doesn't stall anywhere.

Texas is going to get wind and rain, that's a given. As long as it doesn't stall and dump rain for days they might be able to avoid some severe flooding that will otherwise occur.

I have family in that area that evacuated to Austin.
