Wow. ORD has fallen off. Didn’t they used to run 3rd?

and different ways of measuring "busy." number of aircraft arriving and departing(little ones count the same as the big ones,) versus cattle herded in and out of there, for example

I think it's layout, ATL has the row so everyone waits down all those wings.
Out of site.

So whenever I'm in the middle most of the people are out of sight.

Surprised Tokyo Haneda is so high. When I flew to Tokyo, I went to Narita.
I didn't think the Tokyo airports could handle the traffic due to space constrictions.

you can get from any terminal in DFW, lap all of the terminals, and then pick your terminal faster than you can at ATL, not saying the ATL setup is bad

I don't like the Figure 8 layout

I'm actually surprised Denver is that high on the list,

I'm not.

We've flown into there twice ('14 & 17) when we vacationed out there and in Wyoming, and it was very busy. Really nice layout.

with the Skylink it's an oval, DFW was built for hub and spoke but has adapted

DFW always feels so much more crowded to me than ATL does. Not sure why

I believe Hartsfield has wider concourses.

Make no mistake though, I've seen those terminals wall-to-wall with passengers.

It's one of the best layouts there is. Easy to navigate and you can be at baggage claim from the gate in 10 minutes.

Comparable to the likes of Walmart.

KATL don’t look pretty but it’s easy to navigate and able to get people in and out efficiently.

Recipe for success

My favorite airport is Eppley. I can get my shoes shined, grab a beer and a burger, and get on my plane all within 50 feet. Plus I can be through security 20 minutes after closing my tab at Upstream brewery in downtown Omaha.

ORD has lost a ton of seat capacity from American. United has backfilled some, but not as much as AA pulled out.

The “magic” of ATLs operation is five parallel runways in an environment that almost never has strong N/S winds creating an unflyable crosswind component. People often gripe about the terminals but they are efficient and barring a train breakdown, you can make it from T to F in under 15 minutes. You might have to hustle and skip Cinnabon, but you can make a tight connection there in a pinch.

CLT is the absolute worst terminal layout. DFW is confounding if you have to fly AA, and merely frustrating if you are on another carrier. ORD recently went to six E/W runways, but about 10-15% of the year their winds from the north are strong enough to prohibit flying on those six runways.

Surprised O'Hare is that low.

They have two airports in CHI, with Midway they will never be #1.

Same with Laguardia and JFK in NYC.

Same with Reagan and Dulles in DC.

they were #1 for several years when Midway was just about shut down as far as air carrier service, it's been built back up over the years

Denver is an example of “if you build it, they will come.”

Was considered a massive expensive boondoogle at time of construction but that is probably the best large airport in the country.
