And MARTA isn't really safe once school starts letting out around College Park.

MARTA is also a shitshow as the city preps for the World Cup or whatever it’s doing. You can no longer get a straight shot from Sandy Springs, but now they run one train and you have to transfer at Linberg (sp?).

Airport parking is often fricked with the garages closing with no notice, so I’ve had to go park at College Park and wait 23 minutes for a train.

I trust this will all get better one day, but not soon.

MARTA is fine.

I'm not saying its the NYC subway, but if you have a wet behind the ears consultant from out of town that may not pay close attention to their shite, they have a decent chance of showing up downtown missing something (ETA, when school lets out, the trains are crowded, lots of distractions from "culture" demonstrations, etc.)

I'm sure it has happened, but I can't recall a specific incident of serious crime happening on a MARTA train.

Surprised O'Hare is that low.

The airport hasn’t changed from the movie Home Alone, it’s a shitty rundown airport now.

Denver really punches above their weight. Metro area of about 3 million w the 6th most airport traffic in the world . Home to hubs of 3 different airlines. Nonstops everywhere.

IMO it will never be built now.

Their best chance was back in the 80s and 90s. Now, too many NIMBYs up in north GA thanks to 400 being extended that far out.

The inability to walk between concourses blows my mind. The train can be a pain in the arse.

Atlanta has needed a 2nd airport on north side for years to reduce vehicle traffic but you’d rather win the prize for busiest airport and sacrifice quality of life driving around the area.

You can thank the State of Georgia, and CIty of Atlanta and their absolute fear of Delta's lobbyists for that.

Commercial service was proposed for Silver Comet Field in Paulding Co. in the 2010s. All of a sudden a small community group went up in arms about additional aircraft noise/emissions (never mind a thriving business aviation operation already in existence).

Well wouldn't you know, the same law firm representing the concern community stakeholders, is the same outside council that represents Delta in certain matters.

The governments feared Delta would move corporate and/or TechOps jobs to hubs in other states... like labor friendly California, Washington, Michigan and Minnesota.

I also know for a fact that the Ciry of Atlanta has been approached by private airport operators offering them 7-10x their current annual income from HJIA to run it for them. They reject it every time for the reasons stated above.

Yes, every US airport is a graft honey pot, but what you posted above is bullshite, you are full of absolute bullshite. Name one or two interested parties.

There are two privately run commercial airports in the US. Paine Field (PAE) and White Plaines (HPN). No airport, even close to ATL's size or budget have seen any legitimate interest.

The last major private enterprise to even consider purchasing a major US airport was in the early 2010s when the City of Chicago floated the idea of selling MDW. However, one of the two bidders dropped out and the City, still reeling from the PR catastrophe of selling the public parkin concession to LAZ at a fire sale price, decided the optics were unacceptable.

It’s not really the trains so much as the stations. Paying fare to get through the gates is a deterrent.

Wasn’t a purchase, it was a contract to operate. Main reason it never went anywhere is because the operator insisted on full control of the restaurant and retail concessions and the mayor said no.

ADA (Dubai) was one of the interested parties. I heard the Singaporean government was willing to spin off the group that runs Changi Airport into a private entity to make a bid as well.
