This country was founded by strong men who went through hard times to create a better society so that we could have it easy and yes, for some, because of rash times, become weak and lazy.

Be thankful for those that came before us for their sacrifice. avoid the trappings that make us weak.

We should ask ourselves what you are?. What can we do to better the lives of others. Be strong.

Holy shite. You're so stupid that you don't even understand the basic concept of the quote.

Let me explain it to you….

I grew up on a rice farm. I had to get up to tend the fields with my dad. During the hot days of August it was harvest season. I got my wisdom teeth pulled and never forget the moment when I was sweating my balls off with a sore mouth on a cart waiting for the combine and said to myself I wasn’t going to do this as a career. I became a CRNA which coincides with the wisdom teeth story. Between that job and consulting I make 4 times what my dad made.

I struggle to put my kids in the same situations I had to face as a child or my dad did. If I don’t put forth the effort to show how hard it was to get there, they will believe that everything I got was easy.

The same can be said across the country.

No we aren’t, pussies are the ones sky screaming that “we are falling” “ everything is going to shite”. Same people that would tell you how dangerous and crime ridden our country is today, while not knowing/including that the murder rate is half of what is was in 1980, and lower than it was in the 1960s.

lso just curious, how did those bad times “strengthen your faith”? Because God “helped you through?” What about the people that he didn’t help through? Like a Holocaust victim that prayed without ceasing and was still tortured and killed? What made your case so special?

Faith in God does not guarantee a trouble free life. Faith goes way beyond simple life on Earth. It’s not just about God giving you things you want on Earth or even helping you survive a bad situation. If it were, Jesus’ Disciples (and the Apostle Paul) wouldn’t have been tortured and killed (or exiled in John’s case).

Sure, God can and does heal, protect, and bless people in their Earthly lives. Why some people go through a bad situation and others don’t, I can’t answer. But whatever happens to you on this Earth, faith is about a relationship with God that will extend beyond your Earthly life and Earthly death.

There are 11 million unfilled jobs. At the same time, half of the work force is on govt. assistance. They vote for more free stuff. They think that they are living in hard times. God's wrath is on the way. There will be no tough guys.

Do you realize that Trump put pretty much every tax payer and business on govt assistance?

Times are never as “good” or “hard” as it seems. It can always get better or worse.

Individually, do you consider yourself weak or strong??

I say what I am about to say in the humblest of ways. I'm not tough or some Billy badass at all, far from it.

quote:

Life is hard, cancer, pets dying, car accidents, etc etc. We haven’t even begun to reach a level that is too good or “easy.”

All of those things you listed aren't "hard", they are just life and unavoidable.

I deployed with the military to Desert Shield/Storm (which was nothing in light of the last 20 years) I came back with the realization that compared to a large portion of the world, the United States is basically Disneyland.

With that in mind, imagine you lived in Disneyland and they ran out of your favorite flavor of slushy. This would seem like a hardship and something that was difficult. Since you've always lived in Disneyland you have no concept of what hard actually is. Just think of a map with a big "you are here" sticker. You live in Disneyland but because you’ve never known anything other than Disneyland, you think everything is Disneyland. Truth is, for a lot of people on this planet, life is hard and in some cases short.

I remember watching the news from Kosovo or the like. There was an old woman collecting wood to burn so she wouldnt freeze to death while soldiers were taking pot shots at her for entertainment. Those are hard times.

Currently we live in Disneyland. It's on the decline because we as a people NEED struggle. It's in our DNA. If it's not provided, it will be imagined or created. We are in the "imagined" stage.

Hard times are coming. I might not see it but my son likely will.

I love motivational quotes, but when you're actually going through the ringer and are really struggling, motivational quotes feel very hollow...

Yes and no. It's accurate in the broad sense, you're looking at it in a granular sense simply because you don't like it. This is either a purposeful misapplication on your part (ie: disingenuous) or you simply don't possess the wisdom to understand the difference.

quote:

No, to learn the warning signs of society going soft then change course. If you don't get that, you're purposely trying not to... or you're an idiot. You pick.

quote:

Life is hard, cancer, pets dying, car accidents, etc etc. We haven’t even begun to reach a level that is too good or “easy.”

Your definition of life being hard is because we haven't defeated all cancer (cancer has always existed as far as science can tell), we haven't defeated death and that accidents happen????

You've just proven the softness claim and you're so soft you don't even realize it. Soft societies are ones which not only allow increasing lawlessness and chaos in society, but they promote it as being somehow better as they rebel against the very concept of personal responsibility in all but lip-service (and eventually not even that).
