That place is known for their crowd engagement. Bands will schedule a South American leg of a tour just to be able to play River Plate.

Amazing album! Creeping Death being the best song on that album.

Call of Ktulu TYFYS

I saw them for the first time in Dallas last summer. They were awesome, but wish I could have seen them in a smaller venue. The big stadium sound is terrible. Definitely sit close to the stage if you see them on their current tour.

First time I saw them was in Baton Rouge at the PMAC, 1992.

Apparently somebody put it on YouTube: LINK

ETA: first concert. I was 14. Good times.

Ride the Lightning is great but the songs on that record sound a lot better live. Which is opposite with most of their records.

Saw them in “89, then ‘92 and then 33 years 364 days from the first time last August in Dallas… they were still badass… they got harder and faster as the night went on and put on a fantastic show. My favorite all time bad.

Ever since that St. Anger debacle some of their newer stuff is more of a callback to earlier Metallica (Death Magnetic/Hardwired) - but rock is no longer mainstream like it was in the 90’s.

That ‘91 show in Moscow right after the fall of the Soviet Union would have been insane - even if we’d all still be stuck in traffic on the way out.

Edit: Having trouble posting a link (stupid Chinese internet conmection). YouTube “Enter Sandman Live from Moscow 1991” for a video.

I saw them last November. They still put on a great show for some old guys (like this old fan).

I’ve never understood this take.

If songs like Sad But True, Of Wolf and Man, Wherever I May Roam, and The God That Failed are pop, give me more pop.

“Fans” were pissed because Enter Sandman got airplay and expanded the fanbase so they no longer felt special. Metallica has never been anything but heavy. Next you’re going to try to tell me Nickelback sucks.

That’s amazing. Incredible group, that’s stood up to Father Time and prospered.

Best Metallica album, meet me at Sonic if you disagree.

It’s so hard to pick what’s better between their first 4 albums. All were bangers & all different from each other. I also liked Garage Days. Was hard to find back in the day
